How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis is an absolutely fantastic property in a great location in a stunning and wonderful place. Matera is a must see location and make sure you stay for more than one night. The property location is in the old town and adds to the fun of the stay as we could explore our way through the lane ways of the town. The amenities in this cave house were great. The staff were super helpful with recommending and booking restaurants and arranging nearby car parking. The breakfast at the property was fantastic and very generous and made for an enjoyable start to our day.

Verified reviewLoved our stay at Endea Suites, the room was gorgeous, spotless and the view of Matera out the window was stunning. Our hosts went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and where the best spots in Matera were. We also indulged in the spa which was the perfect way to relax!
A little tricky to get to, especially with big luggage, but do note that taxis are able to drive in the old town which would make getting to the accommodation much easier!

Verified reviewGreat location: a rebuilt cave in the heart of the Sassi. Really special to stay in such a historic location. The owner was very nice and the breakfast was very special, loved it.
All good, nothing to complain. Maybe only the lights in the night, I would expect it to be reallly dark.

Verified reviewPerfect location. Parking just a few minutes away. There is just a few stairs down but we had backpacks and 1 cabin troller. So it wasn’t any trouble at all. The room is specious and clean. Amazing view from the balcony! The breakfast is nice. And the hostesses are very welcoming and helpful! The floor is stone and there is no sleepers, but pair of socks solve everything ;).

Verified reviewPretty big room and bathroom. Close to the main square (you do have to go down/up some stairs though, but very easy and expected from Matera). The breakfast was great, with many options and great service. It changed everyday but some options were bruschetta, pastries, coffee, juice, ham, cheese, fruit, bread, nutella, etc. People from reception was very helpful and kind
The shower is not completely closed, so you have to be careful, otherwise you spill water around the floor. Also, you need to consider that the ceiling of the room is made of stone (same stone all the town is made of). So you find sand/dust on the floor and bed. But they come to the room and clean everyday.

Verified reviewThis accommodation was absolutely magical for us and will certainly remain in our memories! The rooms are beautifully spacious and luxuriously furnished, yet still cozy and inviting. Every detail was carefully thought out, which gave the whole atmosphere a romantic touch. It’s the perfect place for couples looking for peace and comfort. The location is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of the city, with everything within reach. The proximity to historical landmarks and charming streets ensures that you can enjoy both a comfortable stay and the beauty of the city at every turn. What truly enhanced our experience was the staff. They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist. We felt right at home, and their hospitality was truly exceptional. The breakfasts were excellent, with a wide selection of fresh and delicious dishes that always set us up for the day ahead. The city itself is absolutely enchanting. Strolling through its picturesque streets, visiting local cafés and restaurants was an unforgettable experience for us. We’ve never seen anything more beautiful in Italy, and this stay allowed us to fully enjoy the true atmosphere and charm of the place. If you're looking for romantic, comfortable, and friendly accommodation with a perfect location, I highly recommend this hotel. I will definitely be happy to return.
Nothing, everything was absolutely perfect.

Verified reviewWhere to begin? Constant communication from the start. We didn't know there was no train from where we were in Altamura on St. Stephens Day, Dec. 26th. Some kind Italian man told us where a bus stop was and took us there. Although we had to wait 2 hours for it, we were in constant communication with our Endea Host Andrea. He would keep track of our journey and pick us up when the bus arrived at Matera Centrale. That's service! And because of that we didn't have to struggle with our carryon size rollerbags down and up the ancient steps of Matera to get to the BnB. But if we had to, Endea's location in the Sassi was not far in, and the directions he has on a you tube video on line are fantastic. The room was modern and cozy and had an unbelievable view of the Sassi. Bed comfy, shower hot. We took advantage of the SPA and booked private time in there for 70 minutes for 30Euro each. Romantic lighting, robes, lemon water, cookies, fruit bowl, huge colorfully lit jacuzzi, sauna, and a multi-head jetted shower you could have a party in. We could've spent another 70 minutes in there since it was freezing outside and this was the perfect cure for the cold weather. The breakfast! Corinne was friendly and fantastic as the breakfast hostess and the three tiered dish of delicious Italian treats was clearly explained every morning. It was such a nice way to begin the day and stay fueled for a few hours. We took advantage of the recommended list of restaurants and were not disappointed with Il Pico and the antipasto platter. I had gone to La Lopa a few years before and that was also delicious and traditional to Matera. We were there for the weekend Living Nativity for Christmas which was one of the main reasons we chose Matera at this time of year. Three days turned into four because Matera has alot to see and do, not only in the Sassi but in the historic center as well. Would love to go back next year!
We drink alotta coffee in the morning and a coffee machine in the common area (where there was a hot water pot for tea) would've been nice, but then again Corinne's breakfast included coffee as much as you wanted.
