How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had a lovely stay at Fragrance Hotel St. Peter. The location was ideal for us (could walk to the city centre, nice restaurants nearby) and the view of St. Peter's cathedral from the balcony was truly breathtaking. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The staff were all very friendly.
You can hear the other guests coming back to their rooms and talking in the hallway. The soundproofing is not ideal.

Verified reviewNice location, good service, beautiful terrace.
Family room was like to separate rooms, so it was not comfortable. Quadruple room is better.

Verified reviewWe truly enjoyed our stay at Fragrance Hotel St. Peter. The location is exceptional – within a short walking distance from the Vatican, yet tucked away on a quiet street that offers peace after a day of sightseeing. Ideal for exploring the Eternal City on foot or by public transport. The staff were consistently attentive, professional, and kind – always ready with a smile or helpful tip. Their thoughtful gestures made our stay even more enjoyable. The room was compact but very well laid out, spotless, and comfortable. We had a lovely view, which added a charming Roman touch to our mornings. Breakfast was above expectations for this category – a fresh, varied buffet that included both sweet and savory options, and quality coffee to start the day right.

Verified reviewVery close to St. Peter’s square and good neighborhood restaurants. Staff was very helpful.
No Metro stop nearby. Only after a few days, did we learn that the regional train (6 minutes away) will take you to the Metro for 1 Euro.

Verified reviewProperty was better than I expected, room was really good size ( with surprisingly big bed) and very clean, and this room had an amazing view to the St.Peters basilica. Staff who working in hotel are amazing, very polite, very helpful. Always make sure that you will have everything and give all information you needed. Breakfast had different options and was really tasty. If you will be tired after long day and still will wish to go out they have amazing Gallo roof top and you can enjoy amazing food and the view. I will definitely will visit this hotel.

Verified reviewThe room was clean and modern, the air conditioning worked well and was individually adjustable, and the location was relatively close to St. Peter’s Basilica.
The soundproofing is extremely poor – the doors don’t block out any noise, and we could hear everything happening in the building. One evening, the rooftop terrace (where breakfast and dinner are served) was closed due to a private event. We weren’t informed about this in advance, which was frustrating, though not the worst part. The real issue was the noise: this is a small hotel where every sound carries, and we had to listen to people partying upstairs until 1 a.m. We didn’t get a single minute of rest. When we mentioned this to the hotel staff, their only response was a casual “sorry, the terrace will be open tomorrow.” It felt completely dismissive and unprofessional. Service throughout our stay was unimpressive. The breakfast was very basic and served in a glass enclosure that was uncomfortably hot – easily over 30°C inside. Overall, our stay was disappointing and far from relaxing. We definitely won’t be staying here again.

Verified reviewLocation was very close to main attractions. Andrea at reception was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay, and the breakfast was enjoyable and well-prepared.
Our initial room at the Roma Hotel was uncomfortably warm, as the air conditioning was not cooling properly. Despite our request to have it checked, we were told it was functioning normally. Unfortunately, we spent a sleepless night due to the heat. The following day, we requested a room change, which was thankfully accommodated, and we were finally able to rest. We recommend that hotel management inspect the thermostats, as the temperature readings appear inaccurate — our room felt much warmer than indicated. For example, while the thermostat displayed 18°C, our own temperature check showed it was actually 25°C.

Verified reviewThe location was good, especially with a few minutes or half an hour walk towards the vatican city. There was near by restaurants to enjoy a night out or have lunch. Overall interesting experience.
Can't think of anything negative to say, except when i took a taxi from Rome Terminal (central train station). I was over charge by €6, i guess the driver was just in a bad mood. But that's no excuss to overcharger passengers.
