We had an outstanding experience at Hotel Walter. The facilities are excellent, the room was spacious and welcoming. The breakfast was out of this world. But to top it off, the people running this hotel are some of the nicest and most welcoming hosts we’ve encountered. We will be back. And lastly, thank you hotel Walter. You made our Ortesei experience one to never forget.

We liked the welcoming atmosphere that the Walter Hotel Family creates, and their friendliness toward us, and any guest. I appreciated their multi-language skills. The breakfast spread was delicious, generous, and beautifully arranged. There was something delicious for many different taste buds. I appreciated the fresh fruits and the combination of continental breakfast and local specialty items. The service was very personal. The rooms and the hotel common areas were exceptionally clean, and tastefully decorated. The atmosphere was very comfortable, and the family was accessible and communicative, yet, respectful of one's privacy.

Well, the only thing that we didn't like was to have a smoking neighbor in the room next to us, and the balcony next to ours. it made it uncomfortable to sit on the balcony while they were out there smoking. We are not used to having that many smoking people in public.

The staff were very kind and friendly. The room and facilities were great, location was perfect and the breakfast was amazing! The location was about 5 minutes from the main square and quite up, but only for 100 meters. So if you have mobility concerns it could be a struggle. If you go straight down the hill, through the square and continue straight ahead, you will get to the gondolas up to Seceda within 10 minutes. And if you walk down the hill, turn left and walk 5 minutes, you will be at the gondolas for Alp de susci.

Delicious breakfast with range variety of local specials and sweets. The hotel is close to village center and many restaurants.

It was perfect, highly recommend it. Breakfast options were unbelievable, staff is super friendly, location is perfect.

Comfortable room, very good breakfast, location close to all cable cars and main bus stations on St. Antonio square in Ortisei. Free bus ride in Val Gardena area was included in hotel stay. Very nice hosts.

The room was in the basement, and my boyfriend with astma felt the terrible air in the room from the second we stepped in, and thus opened the window. Even so, within 30 minutes his eyes were red and swollen, his throat itchy and his breathing strained. When contacting the staff we were only told to open the window, and that they had no other rooms. An hour after arriving we had to conclude that we could not stay there, but were refused our money back. The stay was already overpriced but we had no choice but to leave and pay for accommodation somewhere else. I told the young receptionist, that we had to leave and couldn’t wait for the manager, but would like him to contact us. We have heard nothing from them. I find it absolutely unacceptable to have a room that is clearly extremely unhealthy and then refuse their guests the opportunity to find somewhere to stay, where they won’t get sick. It should be mentioned that we have stayed at countless hotels that are old, dusty and worn, but never has my boyfriend reacted as he did here. That is why I have no doubt, that there is something very unhealthy behind the walls there, apart from it being extremely damp to the extent that the bedsheets were damp from the start. They had even tried to cover it up with a couple of hidden air fresheners (Wunderbaum). The receptionist even told me that it had been mentioned on booking.com that all rooms were in the basement. I have doubled checked this after, and nowhere does it state that. All in all this was a terrible experience and I would recommend no one (astma or not) to stay in their rooms. It is dangerous for your health.

The breakfast was nice. The location is great especially if you are arriving by bus.

I paid over $600.00 for two nights. The reviews said this place had wonderful views. I was put in the basement next to the garage. I had views of car tires.The bed was hard and everything was bare bones down to the towels were hard. The WiFi didn’t work in my room next to the garage. I asked for directions to the cable car, I was pointed to the tourist office. I asked for help because my phone wasn’t working, the owner point blank said she wasn’t going to help. I contacted someone else outside of the hotel to simply ask questions regarding location to the train station. I was shocked at how the front desk (owner’s) treated me. I was given cold stares by the female owner and treated with prejudice. However, the children were very kind. It was extremely strange how I was treated and especially paying so much money for unexpected accommodations. It was by far the worse stay I had in Europe for the two months I have been traveling.

The Hotel Garni Walter was simply amazing--we loved our stay there. The location is perfect: quite close to the center of Ortisei (restaurants, shops, gondolas to the mountains) yet out of the bustle, and with spectacular views. It's hard to say enough about the breakfast--one of the best we have ever experienced! Sylvia's freshly baked cakes, tarts, and muffins were delicious, and the variety and quality of the all the other breakfast items were remarkable. The facilities are immaculate and meticulously maintained--Sylvia has an artistic eye, and has added many delightful touches to the rooms and common areas. Our Junior Suite was perfect for our needs, complete with a lovely view from the balcony. Sylvia and her family were the most gracious and engaging hosts, and offered us excellent advice about hikes in the area. A truly memorable experience--we cannot wait to return!

The only thing I would add to the room during the summer days is a fan for people how are suffering from the hot weather.
