Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesAt booking, there is no warning that reaching your room may involve strenuous exercise, climbing over what feels like an endless raw of stairs. If you have heavy luggage or are not in your 20's,, reaching a room may be difficult.
The best panoramic view you can ever dream about. The hotel.is in the hills raising straight from ste see. Breathtaking room view is an understatement.

CanadaWhile we booked on booking.com and read the info about stairs and elevators, what we didn’t know was that there’s 2 very separate buildings. This info was outlined on their website, but we booked through booking.com with much less info. The best views are from the second building through main hotel, up a flight of stairs, to the elevator- 3 floors, outside walk way, behind utility building, up a set of stairs to a steep hill to the bottom floor of the next building, enter and up either 1 or 2 sets of stairs depending on room. They moved us after 1 night as it was impossible to climb multiple times a day (thermal pools, breakfast, sea). Glad they moved us as the elevator stopped working our second day. 86 steep steps to get to the sea to swim. Ad says steps…it’s a cliff. Use google earth to see I’ve attached a pic, redline is street entrance to upper building, blue is upper building to sea/loungers/beach area. THE OWNERS DOG BARKS ALL DAY!! Literally and time it’s not with the man, the dog barks-barks inside, barks tied to the handrail in front of door, barks in the back hallway…. Even with doors closed you hear the dog BARK Dinner-go next door. Had 3 amazing dinners on a beautiful terrace with dim lighting, casual dress, overlooking the castle at night We tried ordering dinner at the hotel the first night….few things we were told ‘No. Not possible’ and 1 night couldn’t eat the pasta as it had no flavour and mushy peas. The menu is HUGE and has too many choices, thin it out to 6-7 in each category. Best to be great at a few vs mediocre at 50items. Too many bright lights cancel any ambiance on the
The views from the superior terrace is stunning Cute little family run property was probably very nice in its peak-25+ yrs ago Small thermal pools were relaxing Sea/water /castle views CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! Housekeeping is excellent! Breakfast was plentiful and varied. The views! Location was good for relaxing , can’t walk to castle or many places.

IrelandCommunication was a problem (in English). This hotel could do with updating but it has character also.
Excellent location overlooking the Castle and close to the port town. This is a family run hotel so you have to get used to the odd raised voice. However after a day or so you get into the swing of things and the owners are quite funny and accommodating. There are thermal pools and excellent sun bathing areas although a little dated. We were there for a near by wedding so did'nt get to use the facilities much. We were in the rooms at the back in a separate building which is a climb on the first day but the view is breathtaking from these rooms.

ItalyThe owner was incredibly rude. The property definitely needs some maintenance. The fridge didn't work properly and the air conditioning only (barely) worked with the room card in. Also, they were expecting one guest instead of two for who knows what reason - oh wait, I know: they just couldn't care less about their guests. The thing is, we were always kind and polite when mentioning all of the above, until no. 1 happened. When rudeness made its entrance - how dare you customers, to leave your room card in when going out, hoping to find your room a little cooler then the hell you've been welcomed to! - when rudeness made its entrance, they lost every right to be even called 'hospitality'. On top of that, never think of getting any extras: we were charged 20 euros for two (awful) spritzs made with very poor quality wine. Believe me guys, any other property would be better than this nightmare.
Excellent view. Potentially good location. Antonio, the maitre serving breakfast, was nice and kind.

Beautiful and well-designed hotel, the rooms have gorgeous floors with flowers!!!! Excellent jacuzzi outside with fresh water being added every day, nice stairs to the sea, you can take an amazing swim in the sea surrounded by nice rocks. View on Ischia Castle from the room, very friendly people at the recepción! I loved my stay there!!!

Czech RepublicStaff behaviour, dirty pools, beach wasnt a beach and they charge their own guests for the sunbeds and they call it their own beach. I’d rather travel for 3km to a decent beach that is worth the money.
The only thing i liked about the stay was, that we could leave in the morning and come back in the evening. And the lady at the reception was lovely.

United KingdomI can't say there was anything I didn't like, only thing I would say is it would be good to have the option of an omelette or scrambled eggs with your breakfast. That being said, I'm sure if I had asked for this it wouldn't have been a problem as the hotel and staff were very accommodating. The hotel is divided into two buildings; the second building is further uphill and you can access it either via a separate road (which is a bit on the steep side), or via the main hotel which is an uphill climb and involves climbing stairs. If you have any medical issues/physical disabilities or you are pregnant, I would request accommodation within the main building when booking as accessing the second building - which is lovely in of itself - could present some challenges and difficulties. Especially in the heat. It is a very nice establishment though in a beautiful location, I am sure you would be happy staying here.
The breakfast was a generous continental spread with a good choice of items to choose from, there was also a nice selection of cakes and pastries to choose from. Very nice. The staff are very friendly and will go out their way to accommodate you, Rosa and her husband are such a lovely couple. When I arrived it transpired that I was in a room in the building separate to the main hotel which is further uphill with stairs. For medical reasons, the room wasn't suitable for me however Rosa was able to give me a similar room within the main hotel with a fantastic large terrace that boasted stunning views of Arogonese Castle and the coast. I should have stipulated that stairs/hills were not suitable for me when I booked the hotel but this wasn't a problem for Rosa, and she gave me a room more suited to my needs. I am very thankful and grateful to her for that. The thermal sulphuric/iron pools were very nice, very relaxing and definitely beneficial, especially if you have medical issues. I get a lot of lower back pain and the pools helped to soothe this, I was pleasantly surprised. My skin felt amazing after having a soak in the pools too, it was the first time I had ever been in a sulphuric/iron pool. My friend has eczema/skin allergies and she noticed a big difference in her skin after spending time in the pools, no doubt they have healing properties. A lovely, family-run establishment, I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

United KingdomBreakfast selection was very poor, had workmen banging about my room on the first night then every night the hotel dog would bark non stop so no chance of an early night. None of the staff spoke very good English as I realised it’s predominantly a hotel for Italian tourists. No information for English speaking tourists at all in reception (bus times etc).No tea/coffee making facilities and a rule of none of your own food or drink in the room despite the bar never open an flights of stairs (outside from the hotel). Last night a group of Italian teen Judo team running riot with no adult supervision so again late up sleep.
Breakfast staff very friendly

ItalyI waited to review this place because I wanted to see if I would change my mind, but unfortunately I haven’t. I stayed for two nights and on my first day, after the beach I had a shower: when I got out the bathroom floor was completely full of water because although I closed firmly the sliding doors, the seal/gasket was faulty and I spent literally half an hour to clean the floor. After that I tried to open the door and it was stuck: I tried to stay calm and tried multiple times but the door wouldn’t open. After half an hour, luckily I had my phone with me, I called the concierge and explained the issue. Apart from very smart questions like: ‘Is there someone in the room with you?’… I mean, why would I call you? Anyway, finally somebody knocks at the door, they enter and say out loud: There’s nobody here! So I say that I’m in the bathroom and they start trying to open the door: after a couple of minutes they manage to free me and this elderly man starts shouting (shouting!) at me, repeating over and over again: You don’t close the door! You don’t close the door! Why would you close the door? Why? Luckily, I speak Italian so calmly I said: Sir, I have the right to close doors in my bedroom. He got even more upset and kept shouting at me. By the time, I’ve been saved’, the sun went down and the room was getting darker and darker so I tell him that I can’t turn on the lights. He looks at the ‘pocket’ on the wall where you put the keys, but nobody told me about it, and starts shouting again at me: Why the keys are not here? where are the keys? where are the keys? I show him the keys and he snatches them from my hands and puts them in the pocket on the wall and the lights turn on. He then turns and gets out of the room without saying even ‘goodbye’ but keeps on shouting and berating me while walking away.(by the way, I’m pretty sure he is the owner) I’m honestly so shocked that I only managed to keep my mouth open looking at the door open.
location, view, private beach and lunch and dinner were good

South AfricaThe hotel seems to be family run and there is very little interest or attention to guests. Language is a huge problem and there is no effort made to communicate with guests. the hotel is extremely rundown and in need of a massive facelift. The location is difficult as it is far away from restaurants or the main areas of the island. There is also no room service so all in all not even worthy of a rating of 1. It is a zero rating for me
The only redeeming factor is the scenery which you get anywhere on the island. There was just nothing else to praise
