the room was OK but because of the profusion of wood and some outdated furniture it felt like a chalet in the winter :-) Parking is not always easy: we had the chance to find each time some space available on the square next door.

The location was ideal, not far from the center. Breakfast served in the lovely courtyard. Also nice breakfast with fruit, yoghurt, croissants and eggs if you want on demand. Beautiful historical building.

Air con not the best. No views from the velux windows and a few quirks of things not working as they should

It’s in a great part of town as you can really soak up the atmosphere of being in a medieval village. Breakfast (coffee, juice, fruit and pastries) in the courtyard was just lovely way to start the day. Lovely host- so friendly and we got though English Italian language differences

I would have given this hotel an excellent rating, but the air conditioning in our room was a BIG issue. When booking the room, I specifically booked it because of the location & air conditioning. My Mother is elderly so air conditioning is a must. The stairs posed a problem too, but she managed. I was asked to provide my estimated check in time which I did. When we showed up and the kind gentlemen checked us into our room it was like a oven! Not warm or hot...I mean a oven...like sitting in a sauna!! So unbearably HOT!!!! They did not start the air conditioning before our arrival so it took hours and hours to try and cool the rooms down. He started the air conditioning system, but was doing nothing. He then brought up 2 portable air conditioning machines to assist with the cooling system. We had to continuously fill the machine with cold water & ice packs. We were absolutely miserable and had to sleep naked to stay cool. We were super upset when we went out walking one of the days and when we returned someone turned off all of the air conditioning systems and the room returned to being unbearably hot! My Mother is elderly and was just so uncomfortable. We all were. We totally understand that electricity is expensive in Italy, but the hotel should provide that for guests no matter what. Turning it off while we were gone was unacceptable. It was truly miserable. Otherwise, the property was excellent. I just need to make other customers aware of this in case you are visiting in July or are just sensitive to high temperatures and prefer your room to be cool.

The location is perfect! The hotel is located on the main street where you can walk to all the shops, restaurants, churches, grocery store. The courtyard is beautiful and the breakfast service is just lovely. Eggs, toast, croissants, yogurt, fruit & caffe. Our room was located off of the courtyard. Please be prepared for steps and carrying your luggage up those steps. No elevator for elderly. Please be advised that if there is a function in the courtyard those can go until 1AM if you are sensitive to noise. It didn't bother us though. Rooms were spacious for 3 people.

Air conditioning was not turned on in anticipation of our arrival and the temp was 40 degrees Celsius…we wanted to sleep after much travel and we’re not feeling well with such high temps - plus we were in the highest room with additional heat.

Old monastry at the Corso Ovidio, the best place to be in Sulmona, and a very nice breakfast (the kind you'll rarely find getting into the south of Italy).

My room had no windows, the room itself was in a small attic, but the worst part was the smell of cigarette smoke in my room. It was unbearable. When I arrived and during the first part of my stay I was the only guest, and then I believe there were two other rooms occupied by other guests. I wonder if there were no other rooms available for me other than that one. I should have complained when I first saw the room.

With the exception of my room, the place was nice.

    We loved everything!

Our stay at Grancia dei Celestini in Sulmona, Italy, was a delightful blend of history, comfort, and exceptional breakfasts. This charming bed and breakfast captured our hearts with its enchanting location and rich historical significance. The historical significance of Grancia dei Celestini added an extra layer of intrigue to our stay. Learning about its origins as a medieval granary and its transformation into a welcoming B&B was a fascinating experience. The preservation of its unique architecture and the incorporation of historical elements into the decor made our stay feel like a journey through time. However, we would have loved to see more detailed information about the building's history on display within the B&B. Nestled in the heart of Sulmona, Grancia dei Celestini boasts an unbeatable location. Set against the backdrop of the stunning Apennine Mountains, this ancient monastery-turned-hotel offers a sense of serenity that is hard to find elsewhere. The cobblestone streets and historic buildings of Sulmona are right at your doorstep, making it the perfect base for exploring the town's rich history and culture. We found it incredibly convenient to explore Sulmona's attractions, shops, and restaurants, all within walking distance.
