How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe location was walking distance from the cruise ship. Breakfast was very good, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Beautiful hotel!
We expected the pool to be open and we weren’t aware it was closed for the season, I believe due to renovations, not sure. The pool was a selling point for the hotel, so we weren’t aware disappointed.

Verified reviewWe caught an early train. A box meal was prepared that was very good. The desk personnel were absolutely first class, friendly and knowledgeable.
Must close the restaurant “Harrys”. Menu,food preparation and service was awful. Living off the name.

Verified reviewThis is one of the old elegant hotels of Trieste but I got the last room for the holiday weekend and it was the most expensive. That section of the hotel was recently remodeled and looks fabulous. The staff are very attentive and helpful.
Unfortunately almost nothing works properly, partly from design and partly due to lack of debugging. The electronic key system failed and took quite a while to fix, climate control is non-existent (and opening the windows is problematic due to street noise) despite appearance otherwise, the lighting controls are bizarre and unpredictable, the coffee machine uses amazing illy coffee but splatters everywhere, etc. Definitely not worth the very high cost.

Verified reviewWe were only there for one night so I can't say much.The location is great.The room and everything in the hotel is very clean, elegant and tidy.The bed is big and comfortable.The bathroom is very clean. Parking is not part of the hotel,but there are 2 options for them to tow and bring your car, which of course is an additional charge but is very practical. Or you can tow your car yourself to the parking lot which is a 5 minute walk away.The breakfast was fresh and tasty but with a limited selection.The staff is friendly.
We had a problem upon arrival.Our key card for the room was not working.We waited for a long time. But the problem was successfully solved.What personally disappointed me was that there was no balcony.The hotel does not have a room with a balcony at all, and that was my only filter by which I chose which hotel to book.My reservation says a room with a balcony, but unfortunately there is no balcony.The hotel is nice and clean, but my personal filters are very important to me.I always choose a hotel according to my preferences.This hotel would not have been on my list if I had known that the balcony did not exist.Maybe it is not such a big problem for someone else, but it is very important to me. Since it was only one night, we did not want to cancel the reservation.
