Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkThe elevator in the premises is old fashioned and it happened too often that it could not be called since its doors were not properly closed somewhere on the highest floors. We did not mind to take the stairs and do all 9th floors, but I need to flag this risk for someone older or with walking difficulties.
It is located at walking distance from the center. The room is essential, clean, and well organized. The view from the room was pretty nice (9th floor!) and despite the traffic outside the room was pretty silent. There is a common kitchen which is convenient e.g. for having breakfast, although we opted for some cafes' down the street. Communication with the host was clear and efficient.

GermanyVery nice, calm and cozy apartment which is very clean and had a balcony to enjoy the morning in the sun. The bathroom is separate but private, so everything perfect. The public transport is just in front of the building and you reach the city center in 15 minutes. Thanks to Paolo for making us such a nice stay!

United KingdomNot that we didn't like, but we didn't realise that this was a room in an apartment and not a hotel. On the positive side that means that there's a shared kitchen, which could be useful!
Great location in a neighbourhood we hadn't visited before. The couple managing the property was delightful and the place was immaculately clean.

United KingdomThe bathroom was not ensuite and this was not communicated. We have stayed in this area of Rome in the past. The tram no longer operates in the Flaminia area. Walk down Via Flaminia and get the no. 2 bus (Belle Arti).
The apartment is on the 9th floor. Assessed via a very small lift. A very nice room with a lovely balcony with far reaching views toward the city centre. However, the one shock which we had was that the room is NOT ensuite. We had our own bathroom (we were the only guests on the night of our stay) but it was across a common hallway. The bathroom was fine, but be aware of this fact and make sure you have a bathrobe or similar with you! There is a well equipped communal kitchen with a fridge/freezer and tea/coffee facilities. The bed was confortable and the hosts are very welcoming. Next door (ground floor) is a great restaurant (Casa del Gusto). The bus stops outside the apartment (Flaminia/Fracassini)

ItalyAll good for me
Excellent place for my overnight stay in Rome. Staff very accommodating and easy to contact (I arrived earlier than agreed, but they let me check in anyway), spotlessly clean and comfortable, amazing view from 9th floor (don't worry, there is a lift...) and a quiet room despite its location off a busy road. Very good trattoria on the ground floor, as well. I was here for a concert at the nearby Auditorium (10 mins walk), but it's very easy to reach Piazza del Popolo from here, too (on foot 20 mins or bus). I would happily stay here again.

MaltaI attended a concert at the auditorium parco della musica and I would say that Guest House Vignola was exceptionally near the location. A very quiet and nice area with good restaurants as well. Connected with public transport which will take around 15mins from city centre.

United KingdomNo fault of Paolo and Daniela, sometimes able to hear other people staying at the guesthouse and can be a little disruptive to sleep. Would also like to note that this guesthouse is family run and if you have any delays or issues during travel do your best to inform them as they will be waiting for you with the check-in time. It was a little stressful to have delayed flights already and I didn’t realise Paolo and Daniela were waiting for me and I think there was some miscommunication due to the situation and a slight language barrier. Definitely let them know if there’s any travel changes!
The room was incredibly clean and comfortable the bed was firm and really helped me feel rested after a long day of being on my feet. The design of the room is thoughtful also with electronic shutters for the window, plug sockets beside the bed and great light switches! Loads of space and storage. You’re also able to lock the room for security. The shower has great water pressure and I was able to feel refreshed every day. Free coffee and tea was also hugely appreciated. Additionally I loved operating the older style elevator to get in and out of the guesthouse everyday. The space and cleanliness is better than some of the hotels nearby! Hugely thankful for Paolo for arranging a last minute late check-in due to flight delays also. If you’re okay with walking this is also a good location to explore Rome by foot and lots of connections with trams and buses too. Lots of lovely local restaurants and cafes in the area. Very kind and friendly folks in the surrounding businesses. I loved picking up some Italian and trying to order food but everyone was very kind and accommodating when I had to use English.

GreeceThe only thing to note about the room is that it’s not very soundproof. Since there are shared spaces outside the room we could hear everything going on outside our door but it was empty/quiet most of the time.
The hosts were excellent and the room was sparkling clean. The room was also equipped with everything we needed for our stay and the bed is probably the most comfortable mattress/pillows I’ve ever slept on. The location is pretty convenient, the 201 bus will bring you right next to the house from near the Trevi fountain, take advantage of it instead of taxis that can get pretty pricey with traffic.

BelgiumVery Clean. The room, just like the apartment, was comfortable. Great location away from tourist craze, but very well connected with tram, bus and metro. Paolo was amazing and went out of his way to greet us outside or regular check-in hours, which we missed due to our flight being delayed.

CanadaA very clean and spacious room located in a large modern building on a main roadway. The property is right beside transit connections which was great getting around everywhere. My surprise was walking into St. Peter's Basilica and the Pope was giving a public mass. The highlight of my trip for sure. There is a small supermarket nearby where you can get groceries. They sometimes have music in the nearby park which I got to enjoy. The double windows which open to the lights and sounds of the city were fantastic. A nice place to return to one day.

ItalyThis is a minor issue that didn't stop me enjoying my stay at all and wouldn't stop me highly recommending the Guest House, but given the exceptional cleanliness of the bathroom and bedroom I was surprised to find yellow mould around the internal base of the shower tray and black mould in places in the corners. And it leaked a little.
The welcome by the host, our room, the facilities and location were all excellent. The cleanliness of the room and our en-suite bathroom was exceptional. It was great to be able to make a coffee in the apartment's kitchen whenever we wanted: there is a coffee machine with capsules supplied. The breakfast option described in the accommodation's details isn't available, but that wasn't a problem as there is a Carrefour supermarket one street down from which we bought what we wanted for the morning (and saved money doing so). We found a good priced restaurant just around the corner (Il Vignola) that was buzzing on a Tuesday night and in fact we only just manged to get a table, where I had the best pizza I have ever had. If you walk past earlier in the evening checking out dinner options and the waiter asks if you want to go inside and book a table for later, don't think he is being pushy as I did! He knew, we didn't, that the place gets booked out. We had a great stay.

The place is clean and lovely, the bed was super comfy and the kitchen area is also spotless. We highly recommend staying here. The location is also excellent, Piazza del Popolo is a 20 min walk, but the tram stops front of the building.

BelgiumThe window and shutter do nothing to stop the noise, and there's a club or bar across the street that sometimes play loud music until late. It's a shared appartment so if the other customers have different sleeping habits, you'll hear everything.
Clean, modern and perfectly furnished accomodation. A walking distance from Flaminio metro station (there's also the tramway just nearby, but it didn't work while I was there). Balcony with a nice view.
