Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandI had to leave my room in the dark and left my sandals. I have emailed the property several times and they have never replied. In contrast, they were very quick to reply when I was heading there..... Customer service should be more than just getting money for a bed. The kitchen is big with lots of little substations. However, the cups are plastic and there is no kettle. Just an induction element which is very good to use. Lots of pots too. Only one small microwave.
I stayed two nights, each in a different room. The first was good and the second ok. The beds were comfortable and they had a privacy curtain and locked storage cage underneathe. I could not use one so left my bag next to the bed locked with a padlock. There are plenty of toilets and showers, but all downstairs. The kitchen is big too but not complete. The front door access is via a keypad code which is emailed to you when booked. The hostel is very close to a Lidl supermarket, central trains and buses, and the main town. Old town is further away but generally walkable. There is a big lounge down below, but the cleaner wants you out by 1pm..... A range of ages but most keep to themselves and use it for one night to connect to the trains/buses. Quite handy to use to travel to Alberobello for the day, to the beach/coast, and also Matera.

FranceI would like to leave my luggage after check out for some hours, but it was possible only after 10 am and i needed to go out earlier. I leave this comment because you have the possibility to book the storage in the app but you don't have this detail and it could be a problem for someone.
The location is the best. You are in 5 min from Bari Centrale, 20 min walk to the old Town, 15 min to Russian church. The beach is in 30-40 min walk. Supermarkets and bus station are just here. The hostel is modern and well equipped, it is clean. I stayed here many times.

ChileOn the downside, the bathroom and kitchen are downstairs, far from the rooms, and poorly ventilated. Also, the drawer under my bed bumped against the other beds because there was so little space, which made it difficult to get things out.
The hostel is just a few meters from the train station and there is a Lidl supermarket a few steps away. They make your bed and change your towels every day, which is great.

United KingdomA very minor gripe, the metal stairs a little uncomfortable on bare feet.
Great location close to the main station, but no train noise. I prefer ( as in this hostel) the kitchen/ bathrooms and sitting areas to be on a different ( lower) level. Helps keeping the noise levels in the bedrooms down. Comfortable beds/rooms, good communication from staff, well stocked kitchen, excellent Illy coffee automat.

FranceThe rooms are AWFUL. Four cheap bunk beds (8 people) squeezed into around 9 square meters. And that's literally all — no chair, no table, no mirror, no hooks… nothing. You only get a box under the bottom bunk to store your stuff. I understand they seek to maximize their profitability, but this feels like a joke, especially for €35 per night. The beds are creaky — you can't move without disturbing your neighbor. The door didn’t even close. The receptionist just walked into the room without knocking, while I was changing. At check-in, the staff member didn’t speak English. I had a question about the city tax, and instead of calmly explaining, she just kept repeating “no city tax” and then started raise her voice at me. Unfortunately, places like this exist only because there’s no other availability in the city. :/
The common areas — kitchen, bathrooms, and lounge - are OK

DenmarkThe female dorm is too small to have 8 beds (4 bunk beds). You have to slide in the room between 2 beds. The door cannot be looked to the room. Your gear and belongings can be locked under the bed. The toilets/bathroom are in the basement, which is a bit far away (in my opinion), if you have to go to the toilet during the night.
Stayed 2 nights in female dorm. I really liked the privacy of the curtains, toiletries, and a clean towel every day. The bed was made every day. The hostel is just few minutes walk from the train station. Next to a Lidl supermarket. Around 20 min walk from old city centre. There are plenty of toilets and showers. Never experienced I had to wait. The water is hot. The kitchen and facilities is great.

GermanyOur room did not have any light, so you always had to turn on your bed light or use your phone when it was dark. The lockers under the bed were a bit unpractical (I have seen better locker solutions under the bed).
I'd give a 7,5 if it was possible. The location is great, just next to Bari central train station. The common area and kitchen is nice as well, beds comfy.

AustraliaThe communal kitchen and lounge area was really uninviting. It was underground, no windows and resembled a concrete car park. It was hot and humid as the air-conditioning simply couldn't cope. However it was very clean. No one spoke to each other unlike other hostels I have stayed in.
Very clean, very close to airport buses and trains also a Lidl supermarket a few doors away. The dormitory had great air-conditioning on a very hot night. Very clean bathrooms too.

ArgentinaThe toilets are one floor below, the room it was too small for the amount of beds (when I was there it wasn’t full, but it felt already too crowded). There’s no light in the room except from the individual lights from the beds. It is expensive for the lack of comfort you have.
Toilet and showers were very clean.
