Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Apartments with a truly impeccable location: within a five-minute walk you’ll find everything that makes a holiday exceptional — a soft sandy beach, refined restaurants, the charm of the old town, and its vibrant nightlife. The hosts are the embodiment of genuine hospitality. They greeted us personally, helped with our luggage, shared valuable recommendations, and were ready to assist in any situation. Their attention to detail and sincere care for their guests create an atmosphere where you feel not just accommodated, but genuinely welcomed. We travel often and extensively, yet such kind-hearted and responsive hosts are a rare find. This place unquestionably deserves a solid 10 out of 10. A destination we look forward to returning to.

AustraliaJust a note: When we booked our room description included washing machine and terrace we had neither. You can book a laundry service. Also note the kitchen was not equipped to cook -no pots, pans or plates. Just in case you’re thinking of a long stay. The food in Trapani is amazing you won’t want to cook here when you’re on holidays.
Dominic and Anna Maria were great hosts, very helpful and obliging. Dominic gave us suggestions where to park and what to see and do. A special breakfast of fruit was prepared for me in a 5 night stay. The room was large and comfortable including kitchen and table and lounge. There is a kettle. The location was central in the historic centre made easy walking to restaurants and sunset view points.

United StatesJust a full lengths mirror in the bedroom would have been nice but definitely not a deal breaker.
The space was roomy. Talk ceilings all around. There is a living/kitchen space as well as a separate bedroom. I was concerned about the ac cooling the entire space but we left the bedroom door open and everything was cool. Perfect temperature for a restful sleep.

AustraliaDomenico was a wonderful and warm host, always ready to answer our questions whenever we needed, and great recommendations. He helped us with parking information, transport, day trips and even came to check on us when we had some trouble finding parking late one night- his hospitality and friendliness really made our stay. His wife Anna cooks wonderful pastries for the classic Italian breakfast- a cornetto and coffee. The accommodation is clean, simple and homely with everything you need for a short stay, right in the heart of Trapani- just a few steps away from all the great restaurants and port, perfect for visiting nearby Favignana. The location can’t be beaten! We also enjoyed trips to surround towns Erice, Marsala and Scopello from here by car.

PortugalIt was a small apartment, with a living room with a small kitchenette, and a separate bedroom. Good bathroom. Everything was clean and working properly. Simple but good breakfast, consisting of a large croissant and a hot beverage. Good location, in the middle of the historical center, but still quiet. The owners were very nice and helpful. We needed to have breakfast much early than the regular hours, and they were always available for that. Also, they did the transfers from and to the airport in their own car, for a reasonable price.

CanadaThe bed was a bit uncomfortable. I understand that he is in the process of renovating the place so this might not apply in the future.
Domenico and Patrizia were extremely warm and welcoming. They went above a beyond to make our stay a pleasant one. For example, Domenico waited for us late at night on the day of our arrival and he also gave us excellent recommendations of places around the area. Domenico shared yummy local pastries with marmalade that his wife had prepared. He was always very responsive in his communication with us.

United KingdomNothing, everything was perfect.
Our stay here was absolutely lovely - the hosts were really nice people who were very accommodating and met us upon arrival. We were able to check in early which was brilliant as we had a morning flight. The room itself was very nice and clean with a fridge also. The bed was very comfy and the aircon kept the room cool. The breakfast was simple (croissant and coffee) but was enough for us. They even provided gluten free breakfast for myself (muffin and biscuits) as I am coeliac. The location of the room was perfect - it is in the old town area of Trapani and very close to beaches and many eateries/shops. Overall our stay here was brilliant due to the attentive hosts, clean comfortable room and great location.

AustraliaThe air conditioner was only in the living room which meant you had to sleep with the door open to get the cool air in the bedroom
The staff on arrival were extremely helpful and friendly, constantly wanting to help out where possible. He drove our car to a free parking spot and did our washing (for extra charge 10€). The wife made delicious croissants which were for breakfast, and he also assisted with our request of having fruit salad and yoghurt, which is included in the price.

AustraliaAs per my comments. I would have liked to have been in the one bedroom apartment that I booked and paid for
I had a mixed experience during my stay, but there were definitely some highlights. First and foremost, I want to thank the hosts, Domenico and Anna for their kindness and hospitality. Domenico was incredibly helpful and provided me with lots of useful information about Trapani, which really helped me get oriented. I also truly appreciated being allowed to check in early—it made a big difference after a long journey. However, I was quite disappointed that I didn’t receive the room I had booked and paid for. I had reserved a one-bedroom apartment with a double bed, but was instead given a much smaller hotel room with a single bed. The owner explained that there had been a technical issue with the booking system and that the apartment was no longer available. While I understand that mistakes can happen, this was a letdown and I’ve since contacted Booking.com to request a refund for the difference in price. To help make up for the situation, the owners kindly waived the city tax, lent me a bike free of charge (which is normally €10), and provided a few of the amenities that were included with the apartment—like a kettle with some tea and coffee, an iron and ironing board, and even did a load of laundry for me. These gestures were thoughtful and appreciated. That said, the true highlight of my stay was the warm hospitality of Domenico and Anna. Anna’s freshly baked cornettos each morning were absolutely divine—especially the pistachio cream ones, which were my personal favourite! While the accommodation didn’t meet expectations due to the booking issue, the warmth and generosity of the hosts made my stay more pleasant. I hope the booking system issue gets resolved for future guests.

AustraliaIt was clean, comfy and spacious apartment. In a great location. Can’t drive to it (in ZTL) but we paid for parking in Andros garage parking (25 euro a night), 10 mins away of there is free parking in white lines at end of waterfront on via Ranuncoli if you’re lucky. Breakfast was a large filled croissant with tea, coffee or juice which we found all we needed. Large fridge, soaps and shampoo. But only glasses and cutlery in kitchen, kettle, stove and oven but no dishes, pots or pans. Glasses we used were washed by housekeeping each day as there was no dishwashing liquid. Washing machine in kitchen but you need to ask and pay 10 euro for it to be put on. Friendly couple run it and were very very helpful particularly on the morning we left in heavy rain.

United StatesListing was apartment with a balcony, but that description is very subjective. There was a railing at the bedroom doors, which overlooked building walls. and the front door had a small landing, on the second floor, but neither of these are balconies. Didn't affect our overall stay, but not exactly what we were expecting.
The location was very central for sights, restaurants, ferries and buses. The owners were very kind and responsive, and Anna's homemade cornettos in the morning with great coffee were wonderful. The apartment was very clean, but the kitchen was not well supplied. Had to ask for pots and pans to cook with, as well as plates and additional utensils. Although it is listed as having a kitchen, I got the impression that the owners preferred you not use it. That being said, we were provided with what we needed to prepare and heat up some meals, without any issues. Maybe it was an oversight, and that apartment just wasn't fully stocked as it should have been. Certainly for the price paid it is an excellent value.

Czech RepublicThe only downside was the thin walls — you can hear noise from the hallway quite easily, so if someone is up early, it might wake you too.
Check-in went smoothly. I arrived already at 11 AM, which was much earlier than the official check-in time, and they were very kind and welcoming.I was able to leave my luggage in the room and even check in early, which I really appreciated. The owner, Domenico, is super helpful and friendly. Although he doesn't speak much English, he made sure I had all the important information by sending everything clearly via WhatsApp in English. Breakfast is Classic Italian style — with heavenly homemade croissants and other delicious local pastries that made my mornings so special. Basic room cleaning is done daily, so everything is kept tidy and clean. Some rooms are located upstairs, accessible by narrow stairs. This might be a downside for some, but it definitely adds to the authentic Italian atmosphere :)

United StatesEverything was resolved very quickly so even with a few hiccups, this is a great accommodation!
The apartment is lovely, spacious and very clean. The location is perfect. The host is a miracle worker and turned around my first impression that was a bit disappointing. We chose this property because it was a full apartment with a kitchen and washing machine. But the washing machine was not in working order and the gas stove top was turned off and there were no dishes or pots to use the kitchen. So I was disappointed. I decided to speak with the host and within a few minutes he resolved all of the issues to my satisfaction, including offering to have laundry done. He also managed to get the wifi to work really well! So I have to give almost perfect score overall! The owners are lovely people and we really felt like family in the three days we spent in Trapani!
