Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The shower wasn't the best, not great pressure. The water is also very hard (so a lot of limescale build up in the kettle).
The location was very central yet quiet as well. Loads of restaurants and a laundromat nearby. The room was clean and comfortable as well. They also come in every 3 days to clean.

- The tourist tax seemed a bit too much. In all other places, we paid 5€ or less per night. Here it was over 10€ per night. Be careful!
The location is amazing and the price was great!

Even though the place is lovely , having this rustic air, it would need a bit of updating in the furniture. Bed was a bit hard and room was very humid, which is normal being very close to the sea, but maybe a dehumidifier in the room would help , specially in summer time.
The location was perfect, just 5 mins walking from the main square. Safe and quiet area. Being in the building gives you the feeling of living like one more of the inhabitants of the island.

I couldn't get mobile service from my room, so the Wifi helped alot. Also, I wasn't used to the door to my room being without a handle (it needed a key to open) - I got locked out when I stepped out for a while because I forgot the keys (entirely my fault, but just be careful). Luckily, the manager (Daniela) was very fast in rectifying the issue, with the onsite staff (housekeeper) opening the door for me promptly.
I liked how it was away from the busy streets but still close enough to the main sights in Ortigia. The room (I got Room 1 on the first floor) was also very spacious for one person, and the staff onsite was attentive and super helpful.

Bella Daniela was a lovely, friendly host who gave us recommendations on where to eat, and they did not disappoint. The room was clean and comfortable. The only issue we had was no hot water on the last morning. The location is perfect, close to everything in Ortigia. Will definitely stay there again.

Very close to the beach, a lot of cafes and supermarket in 2 minutes, ortigia center in 5 minutes. Very clean and quiet. Nice room with coffee machine and tea pot.

After reading the reviews, unit descriptions and pictures, I booked this accommodation with the expectation that it would meet my needs for a four night stay in Ortigia. But that was not the case. After arriving at the property at the agreed upon time, the property manager did not respond to four phone calls. Finally, we were given remote access to the premises without being alerted. The courtyard led to a small landing at the top of the stairs used to access the unit. When I entered the unit, the distinct smell of urine and sewage was overwhelming. There was only one window in the unit and it was not accessible. A platform style loft was accessible by climbing unstable and unfinished plywood stairs. The “kitchen” consisted of a mini fridge with a coffee maker sitting on the top. The WiFi connection and cellular service were not working in the unit. The manager suggested we go outside to make a connection. Finally, I was accused of slamming the doors and disturbing others. However, firmly closing and securing the doors was impossible. The manager did not respond to booking.com’s outreach to rectify the situation. Do not book this accommodation despite what the other reviewers are saying. You may be disappointed.

The bed was an incredibly uncomfortable twin squished together - not a real double at all. The shower was terrible - no water pressure at all. A lot of noise can be heard through the door - which doesnt close properly unless you lock it fully from the inside with a key - which you then need to leave in the wall to turn the AC on - imagine trying to get out in a fire or emergency? insane
The location was great, check in was easy, we were able to leave our bags for a few hours after check-out

Daniela is a great host, very helpful and quick to respond to any queries. She kindly accommodated my request for a check in earlier than usual, and also guided me how best to get to Noto. Her place is located right in the center and is walking distance to everywhere in Ortigia. It has everything you’d need during your stay, super comfortable really. Definitely recommend Daniela’s place.
