We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsThe description does not mention that there are over 170 stairs to get to the house, and nowhere to unload the car since you are driving in the only busy road where it is forbidden to stop even for a minute.. The description should specify that street parking is not available and that the closeby private parking is not always open at designated hours. We ended up driving back and forth looking for parking from 21:30 till midnight, and ended up paying 70 EUR and walking back from Amalfi town. The girl who was taking care of checking us in was not properly instructed - regardless of us asking to write down relevant information rather than sending many separate vocal messages, the communication was only through vocal messages. It was hard to search for any info when we needed it. We missed the crucial info that one of the entrance keys should have been left in the outside locker at all times, and ended up being locked out of the house on the day we had to check out. We were told that no one was available to come and open the door until 2pm (it was 9:30 am!) - luckily the owner was able to drive to the house and let us in! This is unfortunate because if run properly, the place is absolutely beautiful.
Perfect if you want to escape the craziness of Amalfi town but still be able to walk to town without needing to drive or walk through the busy "highway". The house is connected to the town through a pedestrian tiny old road and stairs (it take around 25min, with a lot of stairs up and down). The view from our room was amazing, and the location is super relaxing!

New ZealandOverall it was a good place to stay, but a 'heads up' on a few of things. - If you are taking the bus to get there, go to the tabacchi store and ask for two bus tickets per person, if you don't get two tickets there is no shop nearby that sells bus tickets and you would have to get a taxi back to Amalfi centre as far as we could tell. - the toilet is your own private one, its just not connected to your room. It's in a shared hallway about 3 steps from your room. - The bedroom door lock can be frustrating, we learnt the trick is to push the door as if you are closing it when unlocking it - hope this saves someone 20 mins trying to work it out :)
Beautiful view, really lovely and helpful staff. As long as you are aware that there are a lot (over 100) stairs before booking, they aren't that bad.

United KingdomEpic amount of steps to walk up to get to the accommodation. I don’t recall this being explained during the booking phase. Poor quality bathroom facilities regarding shower and window fitting.
Rustic feel and great views from the benches outside.

South AfricaNone of the bathrooms for the entire house are located inside of the rooms, we would have liked to know before we booked that its a shared apartment with a 'non attached' bathroom. Wifi was horrible and not worth climbing the steps!
Great view even though you have to climb ALOT of steps to get to the property :)

ItalyThe room was really humid, at the point that the bed and the clothes were almost wet. This has been really unpleasant and not healthy. Moreover, the kettle was not working, and there was not hot water (they tried to fix it but, unfortunately, unsuccessfully). It needs to be mentioned that the house is not reachable by any transportation. There are 140 steps from the main road (not a problem for us, but keep it in mind if you consider to stay here).
The view from the room was nice, and there is a nice path that in 20 mins brings you to Amalfi, avoiding you to take buses or to walk on the main road. The availability and flexibility of the host have been really appreciated.

LatviaThe room was dark. Very small and uncomfortable bathroom which is not connected with your room (need to go through hallway). There is a rule that you can not bring food to house or your room. Location - about 2 km from the center of Amalfi or 4 stops by bus.
Coffee and drinking water was available all time. When you go outside of hotel, there is a beautiful view on the sea.

IrelandMostly everything. The room was really dark with only 1 yellow bulb and rarely any light making it difficult to see. There are 165 stairs to get to the property which was a pain sometimes. The bathroom was really tiny and the sink was barely usable, it was difficult to even stand there and wash hands/face without spilling water everywhere which was an unnecessary mess for us. There were insects inside (including Lizards) so had to be really cautious every time. These details were not mentioned anywhere so it was a complete disappointment for us. The rating is only for the host otherwise it lacks in every facilities.
Host was responsive and good

Belgium176 steps from road to property: impossible for disabled, older people and requires good health to raise your bags up there. No real breakfast served apart from some cookies, a kettle and a coffee machine. No playes, no decent cuttlery and no food is allowed to be brought. Television malfunctions. Tax to be paid in cash and separatly. Parking place at 200 m distance ( + 176 steps)
The view is nice.

Canadareally tiny bathroom, tight small room, air conditioner unit placed that way that the air will hit you in the face while sleeping in bed. did not get the directions to the parking place and to the accomodation until the day we arrived there, just after we spent 2 hours to ask around and find from a nearby accomodation place where to park the car and they called the host for us to let them know we have been waiting for 2hours. We booked back in June and received directions information last minute, on the day of arrival.Unacceptable. We did not get a good signal to even call the host.

Australiathe place smelt of mould and was so damp that I felt like my sheets/clothes were wet, the bathroom is not private like it’s advertised… it is a small shared toilet very isolated from any shops or anything
the owner was so lovely and also let me check in 3 hours early, great views, regular bus service to town, fast wifi and cold aircon, tea and coffee/small cakes available plus a fridge and microwave (but no milk for tea)

Puerto RicoExcellent location. Just 15 minutes walking from the Amalfi bus station and the center of Amalfi. The host was excellent, everything clean, hot water, towels included and comfortable bed. Excellent view as a plus. You have to go up a few stairs with your luggage so be aware. In most places in Amalfi you have to go up stairs.

AustraliaThe room was a bit musty and dirty. The shared bathroom was very mouldy and unpleasant. The stairs to the accommodation are also a challenge if you have big suitcases, but there is a porter service for extra $ if you require it.
