How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Bathroom fixtures were outdated. . . Asked for a room with a view.... We overlooked the parking lot and the garbage area. Disappointing. Paid extra for a room with a view... the harbor was beyond the view of the roof top and the parking lot and was super diaappointing. The worst, however, was the noise of garbage take out and the smell... cant believe we paid extra for a view and noise of garbage pick up

Our double room we requested was a twin room so housekeeping had to rearrange the bedding. There was no suitcase stand. There was no kettle or coffee making facilities in the room. When I asked for a kettle you could only have one if you upgraded to a suite!! Everywhere we stay these days have these facilities and if requested a kettle you get one. Most times.

Verified reviewLa Vecchia Fonte is well located and some staff of the reception was really nice but with no really good English.
There is no variety of food in the breakfast, as well as it is not possible to collect some food before the breakfast starts if you have an early tour arranged. The lady at the kitchen is super nice and friendly. She can cook some pancakes or boiled egg up to your request ! But the one that is in charge of put the food can have a better attitude with the guests.

Verified reviewGreat location, in the city centre of Palau, in front of the Palau harbour and large public parking. It is a great starting point for La Maddalena archipelago boat tours. Room service was good.
The overall experience is not so good. We stayed there for five nights, but had only one night of good sleep. The bed was extremely soft, had a bad structure, was old, and was squeaky with every small move during the night, waking us up from sleep. They offered to remove a tiny memory foam mattress to make it less soft, which slightly helped. However, it didn't improve the sound of the bed with each move. If they’re charging these prices per night, at least they can do it to provide decent beds. Also, breakfast was poor, and the service was unpleasant. The lady who works there acts like she cannot wait for us to finish breakfast. We were there during several unpleasant situations. One of them, they’re turning off the coffee machine at 10:00. One of their guests was trying to make a coffee 2 minutes after that, the waitress was staring at him, didn’t wanted to tell that the machine is turned off and let him to think that he is the one who doesn’t know how to use it like she was punishing him for trying to make the coffee 2 minutes after the breakfast is finished. Also, once she didn’t want to let in a family who came at 9:55, because they were late, even if they had 5 minutes to grab a croissant. If the hotel knows that breakfast is busiest from 9 to 10, it should consider extending the breakfast time to give its customers a pleasant stay.

We would like to clarify a few points you raised in your review, starting with the beds. We understand that personal preference plays a big role in a good night's sleep, but we can assure you that all our beds are new, having been replaced just one year ago. To accommodate the majority of our guests, we added a topper to the mattresses to offer more comfort. This is the item we removed for you at your request. We're sorry that this didn't completely resolve the issue for you. Regarding the breakfast service, we apologize if our staff seemed unpleasant. We have a set breakfast schedule with a clear start and end time, which is a standard hotel practice. Our staff arrives very early in the morning to prepare the room and ensure everything is ready by 7:30 am. Asking them to work overtime every day is not feasible, also because the cleaning and resetting of the room take a long time. It would also be difficult to manage a flexible schedule, as it would create confusion and service issues. We're sorry for the negative impression this created. Having the air-con on before we arrived was wonderful. Allowed the room to be nice and cool on our arrival. Staff were very accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was great too, lots of variety. The hotel is ideally located right on the Palau harbour, offering the perfect base for exploring the stunning La Maddalena archipelago. But beyond the prime location, what truly set this stay apart was the impeccable service and attention to detail from the moment we arrived. Check-in was warm and seamless, and we were made to feel welcome from the first moment. The staff were outstanding — consistently friendly, helpful, and genuinely thoughtful throughout our stay. They are a real credit to the hotel. A beautiful touch awaited us in our suite: a bottle of sparkling wine, a handwritten welcome note, and a delicious platter of fresh fruit — all of which made us feel truly celebrated and cared for as honeymooners. The Presidential Suite itself was simply stunning — stylish, spacious, and immaculately maintained. It had everything we could have possibly needed and more, including a private gym! But the true showstopper was the private terrace with breathtaking panoramic views over the harbour. Complete with sun loungers, a dining table and chairs, and our own private hot tub, it was the ultimate spot to relax in privacy and comfort. Verified reviewVery friendly and helpful staff. The room was great, we had a balcony with a view on to the harbour. The location was central and easy to find. Parking was €12 per night in the car park opposite the hotel. We would definitely return to this hotel.
The breakfast option was basic but okay. It didn't worry us during our stay but just to note there is a live music stage nearby that plays music past midnight at the weekend.
