Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaUnlike hotels, you dont get breakfast or any dining area, this is definitely an air Bnb. I would whatsapp the owner asking for something, it would take atleast a few hours to get a response. So i would say dont be in a rush when asking for something. One thing i noticed about accomodations in Italy, none of them have microwaves🫠 The accomodation is close to Roma termini but all attractions are a bit further, and its either you use Uber or bus/train but you can never find direct transportation to the attractions.
First night in Rome slept in one of the rooms, i think room 3/4 wasnt as great because it did not have a pleasant view. Then the second time we got back, they gave us room 1. This room was good and had a nice view and better lighting. Coffee machine is there.

NetherlandsThere were a couple of aspects I wasn't entirely satisfied with. The hotel occupies the 3rd floor of an apartment building, accessible via an old and creaky elevator, which wasn't very reassuring. Additionally, the lack of a nearby metro station made transportation slightly inconvenient.
I recently stayed at this accommodation and had a great experience. it's conveniently located close to the center, just about 1km from the Trevi Fountain, and is surrounded by excellent restaurants. The room was very clean and well-maintained, with daily housekeeping, and the staff were helpful, and the free WiFi was an appreciated convenience

South AfricaThe only problem we had was a fire alarm in the building next door which knocked out the electricity for two hours. So no real complaints. .
This was a different type of accommodation for me, but I really enjoyed the apartment feel. The accommodation provides all the necessary without the fuss. The staff where very good at communicating on WhatsApp, without the need for a conventional reception. It was serviced every day, and the staff were friendly. The store across the road and the numerous restaurants around the area were great no need for a traditional hotel. The area is quiet and within walking distance from most of the sites without the tourist crowds. When going mKe sure you contact the staff before you arrive for them to be there, it all works well. The sign to the apartment is a little small and I did walk past it. It has a very nostalgic feel to it with the old style lifts and it's only two floors up so easy to get there. Water was provided daily, and the view from our room was spectacular. The hotel also went beyond and organised flowers, balloons and a cake for my daughters 8year old birthday, we arrived on her birthday so this was special.

ItalyIt would have been nice if they had a room where to the luggage after check out. It seemed not safe to just leave it “at the reception” when there is no one there physically to survey.
I liked that you can do check in by yourself, is easy to find and to access. Also the room was spacious, and new.

United KingdomThe mini fridge was not working, not sure if broken or unplugged. Not an issue for me because I didn't need it, but worth mentioning it.
The place is in a great location, close to Termini station, a short walk to main attractions and with a lot of good cafes and restaurants nearby. They have really good communication, I've received information about my stay and even recommendations of places to eat. The room was quiet and nicely decorated, the bed was very comfortable and the shower had good water pressure. Really easy to access the building with the self check-in information provided.
