How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe hotel itself actually was the only great part of our visit to Rome. Hotel's owner, Silvio, was very pleasant and helpful, trying to make our rest as comfortable as possible. We'd like to thank him for an exellent SPA session he offered for us (though, pretty expencive), as well as for his hospitality and friendlinell. The rooms itself were great - it is obvious for me that owner takes care of what he offers - he even asked whether we require a new pillow, and helped us with the transfer back to the airport. Rooms design is absolutely amazing! Also, I'd like to thank Silvio for the cafe recommendation he gave to us - good coffee, good unexpencive but quality food - that is another thing we really liked in Rome.
Rome itself - a very dirty and unsafe city, horrible food in the city center, a lot of beggars and smell of urine everywhere in the very center - I guess we'd never ever visit this city. Tram lines was looking as somwhere in poor districts of Bangladesh, not as it should be in one of the oldes cities in Europe - a tons of waste, graffities everywhere - looks like city government doesn't care at all about it, hoping that tourists will anyway come to look at old stones. Calling a taxi to city center was a real quest - we were waiting for an hour, and had to cancel taxi order at the end, as no one accepted it (we were not brave enough to use metro).

Verified reviewSilvio is an excellent host, very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. His personality is evident in the unique interior design of each room. The room itself was spacious, quiet, and pleasant. Security was good, and the location is convenient to public transport, a few restaurants, and cafes.
The mattress in our room was extremely soft, it could definitely be upgraded to a firmer mattress.

Verified reviewSilvio was a fabulous host, and this property was so cozy. It felt so homey and closed off from the streets and other guests. Silvio is attentive and kind, I would definitely stay here again.
The location is a bit far from the city center, but the bus ride into the city center isn't terrible! Thankfully it is a block away from the bus stop/

Verified reviewThe property is very quirky, it’s clean and welcoming.
We didn’t realise the distance from the main attractions we went for. We couldn’t work the metro so found it a bit difficult.

Verified reviewThe room was very clean, the host was really great and he helped us with anything we needed. In addition, he provided us with valuable information related to public transport in the area, how to get to the city centre, he suggested some nearby restaurants and was really attentive to our needs.
The walls were a bit thin and you could hear pretty well the other guests, but that was not such a big inconvenient for us. We managed to rest and enjoy our vacation, and the general feedback is a positive one :).

Verified reviewThe owner is super sweet and very helpful. My husband and I weren’t able to check in until 11pm, he made sure to be there for us to check us into our room; he gave us maps of Rome and went out of his way to make us comfortable while we were there. He even had a taxi ready and waiting for us at 7:20am the day of our flight so as to relieve all stress. He also speaks English which is a massive bonus in our book as we do not speak any Italian! The rooms were aesthetically pleasing and very comfortable. Mancini Shabby House may be a bit farther than others from central Rome, but the guest accommodations make it all worth it!!
A bit far from central Rome, but with the bus & metro stations, it’s easy enough to maneuver!

Verified reviewVery welcoming and helpful host, decent size room, nice bathroom. Free coffee. Location a bit far from center, but still close to public transportation to the city center. Area is with lot of shops and restaurants.
Shared fridge with other rooms. Matrace a bit soft for our preference. Missing some proper working table.
