Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaThe apartment is not accessible - it is located on the 4th floor, so you need to walk up the stairs. HOWEVER, this IS stated on the Booking description; the owner further warns you about stairs via messages once you book. So this comment from me is not a "negative" but just another reminder to potential guest. While the bed was comfortable enough, please note that it is NOT a queen bed, but two merged single beds - meaning there is a "gap" between two mattresses, so it's not perfect for those couples who sleep cuddled. The apartment is also advertised for 3 adults, but I wouldn't recommend it so: either 2 adults or 2 adults + 1 kid. This is because there is no privacy between the bedroom area and couch. While apartment provides great noise suppression to the street noise (except for the church bell), we were able to hear the neighbors from other apartments in the morning (I guess, since the building is old). The terrace doesn't have the identical furniture as on the pictures. Nevertheless, it has table for 2 and 2 sunbeds. As mentioned before, we loved the terrace nevertheless.
The apartment is located 5 min walk to the ferry/beach, right outside of the main plaza, and 5 min to the closest supermarket. We didn't cook, but it visually had everything you would need for cooking and morning coffee/tea. While the building is very old, the bathroom is renovated and has proper water pressure/temperature. AC works properly. The mattress was comfortable (on the firmer side). Separate compliments to the terrace. We spent each evening there: it is comfortable, quiet (regardless of being close to the main square) and provides nice breeze. The owner was very helpful and friendly. She communicated in advance and was providing helpful tips on getting to the apartment and around.

AustraliaThe stairs 😭😭 but unfortunately cannot be avoided in Amalfi. The aircon in the kitchen area wasn’t working properly.
The location was perfect. Daniela the host met us on arrival and walked through accomodation and explained. She gave us new towels on request. The apartment was clean and good air conditioning in the bedroom.

AustraliaLovely apartment with balcony. Fantastic location near the duomo. 73 stairs were not too bad for us 65 years old. Daniela picked us up near the port and was very welcoming. There were some coffee, tea, salt, cookies for starters.

AustraliaThere are a lot of steps as it is was on the top floor of the apartment complex. Minimal crockery provided so needed to request a bowl to use for breakfast cereal which was sourced.
Great location in the centre of Amalfi, just tucked away in a side street so also felt private. Lovely glimpses of the water through the apartment window. Close to a grocery store, pharmacy, fruit shop and hundreds of restaurants/gelato shops. Easy, short stroll to the beach and ferry port.

United KingdomAnyone coming here must be fit! There are 73 steps up from the road to the apartment which is almost at the top of the building. (There are lots of steps al over Amalfi, it's not a place for someone that can't do stairs.)
At the heart of Amalfi, close to the seafront and to the central square, is this lovely apartment hosted by Daniela. It had everything we needed - a very comfortable bedroom with plenty of hanging space, a bathroom with an outstanding shower, and a kitchen/dining room with all you need when you want to do some occasional self catering. And best of all, a small terrace looking out over the rooves of Amalfi to the sea in one direction and to the Duomo in another. Being at the top of the building, it was quiet and well away from the tourist hubbub that sometimes fills the city centre. Daniela very kindly met us as we got off the ferry and showed us the way through Amalfi's narrow streets to the apartment. She even helped my wife with her suitcase up the many steps (as there is no lift here). She helped make our stay in Amalfi very special and memorable.

JapanIt is ok for young people like us but it may be difficult for the elderly people to arrive at the room because the room is on the higher floor and there was no elevator.
Excellent location. It takes a few minutes from the ship and bus station. The sea view from the window was so nice and the furniture was so cute that we enjoyed staying in the room. Considering these quality, the price is lower in this area. What is more, the host was so kind to allow us to put our baggage before the check in and earlier check in as well.

Hong KongShower drainage is a bit stuck. No elevators, and you need to walk to the top floor (which is typical in Amalfi).

United StatesThis was on the top floor with no signage. It’s important for people to know it is in the same building as Residenza Del Duca. There are no signs that say Amalfi old Square apartment anywhere. There are also three flights of steep stairs. That did not bother us, though. We thought this stay was wonderful.
Very nice cozy one bedroom apartment. There were two rooms, one kitchen/living room combination the other bedroom and there was also a separate bathroom. Our favorite thing about this apartment was the terrace overlooking the sea.

There were some ants around the balcony doorway, but the host came over immediately with bug spray and minimized the problem. Incredible hospitality by the host and quick responsiveness.
