Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicI was missing the electrical socket next to my bed - the lamp on the bedside table was only for decoration. It's only the electrical socket for TV over the bed and too high your mobile phone charger. The fridge door wouldn't open.
Accommodation within walking distance of metro station Valle Aurelia (730 meters).

IsraelThe place is dated: showers are almost broken, it's very noisy, cause it's a main street, but the windows don't isolate anything. Out of some 70 bookings I've had through the years, this is the ONLY place that charges for late REMOTE check-in. Like, I would have understood, if they had to come and meet you, but they are charging you 20 to 35 euro, literally for once pressing the button to remote-open the gate, that's it.
The location is great. Free parking is available.

Spacious apartment. Comfy beds. Each bedroom has own bathroom. Drawers and cabinets in bedrooms. Bus stop is just before apartment- only few minutes to Piazza Venezia.

VietnamThe smell of chemicals used to clean the room, strong smell. The convenience location means supper noise at day & night. I always close the window but noise from the street can be heard. Cannot use the kitchen, but the electric kettle & cups are available. The host is friendly & useful. The bed is small & not really comfortable
The location is convenient, easy to take on bus 46, or metro & other buses. The room is clean. There is a small lift which is useful to carry luggage up stairs. The check in staff is nice, even though her English is not really good. Check in time is from 10AM which is the most I'm appreciate.

UkraineThe only thing that people mixing up term "not clean" and "worn out/tired ". So it is clean, really, but room saw many days in its life. Some fresh paint here and there, wouldn't hurt. But to me it's typical European experience.

TurkeyIt is forbidden to use the kitchen. You can only use the fridge. You have to take a bus to go to the city center, which is totally fine, but the buses are really crowded (just a reminder for those who are having a look at the place). There are not markets nearby, or you have to climb a lot of stairs on the way back. They look really close on maps but the area is not flat, so you have to climb.
The room was good, spacious enough and comfortable. Although it was far from the touristic area, it was not so noisy. There is a bus stop just across the building and you can go everywhere by taking it.

PolandYou have to pay to use the kitchen. Same goes for other facilities. Dirty towels. Thin walls, so you can’t get a good night’s sleep without hearing people from other rooms or the noise from the nearby busy street.

United KingdomWe didn't like that the way our room was presented on booking.com and how it was sold to us, because our room was called "double or twin" room, with options: a one double bed, and two single beds that the website let us to choose from. We chose option of 2 single beds. And when we communicated with the host after paying for the room, we have been told that we will not get 2 single beds. That caused us stress and anxiety, I was travelling with my mother which she was upset about not being able to have own bed. After the communication with the host (Laura), which came across as being rude as the way she was speaking to me via whatsapp and not taking responsibility for how she created and put the offer on booking.com . She asked us to pay more if we wanted to have two seperate beds. I disagreed as I I booked a room with the option of two beds. She eventually organised a room with two single beds. Which we appreciated. But experienced stress because of it, which could have been avoided if the offer and description was created correctly instead of misleading. Another thing that we absolutely disliked was that we were not provided directions on how to check-in, where at etc. Nothing through booking.com, nothing in the further messages on whatsapp. When we arrived at the gate in front of the building, there were buzzers but none of them said that there is reception or anything. I also tried to phone Laura few times, she didn't pick up the call. I messaged her, she didn't reply either. It was very hot outside, my mum started feeling unwell and dizzy, and I didn't know what to do. We managed get inside of the building as the gates were open, and we were sitting for over 30min inside on the stairs waiting for any reply, which we did not get. Eventually I buzzed some random door downstairs. It happen to be a reception there, but there was not any sign telling that there is a reception.
We liked that the room and the whole place was very clean. It looked like it was cleaned every day. We also liked that the lady at the reception was super friendly, helpful and kind. The ladies that were cleaning were very friendly and kind, too. We enjoyed the fact that the bus stop was just at the front gate of the place, and it was just 15-20min to get to the centre of Rome for €1.80
