How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewLocated just 5 minutes from the Greek Theatre and archeological park. A bit further away from Ortigia (but still walkable). Fabrizio is really caring for the guests and check all the time if anything is needed. Fridge has a freezer tray!
Not everyone reads the instructions so every now and then someone rings the bell at random times. Not a B&B issue: it's on customers... but kee it in mind and, please, read the instructions!

Had no problem finding a parking space next to the property. Fabrizio was a very kind host and gave some recommendations how to experience Syracuse at its best.

Verified reviewI stayed at Mythos for 2 nights after coming to Sicily on purpose for the Festival of Greek Theatre! The accommodation is very well situated, just 5 minutes from the archeological site of the ancient theatre and within walking reach of Ortigia. The host is very friendly and welcoming, providing great recommendations and making a nice introduction to what the city has to offer. The rooms are spacious and I found the naming of the rooms very thoughtful and in theme. I would return!

She was reprimanded for smoking in the room and for this reason she is using the review to get revenge, this is not correct and it is not right! But then you talk about an overpriced price for poor furnishings? Excuse me if I am not mistaken. You paid €50.00 for a double room for single use with a balcony.. equipped with an orthopedic bed with slats, 25 cm memory foam mattress, 2 normal pillows + 2 memory foam pillows, 32 inch full HD LG TV, latest generation air conditioning, 2-door wardrobe, structure and city themed painting depicting the Greek theater of Syracuse and added: huge bathroom 4m x 2.50m with giant shower 1.50m x 2.50m all furnished in a minimalist style and absolute white and you consider all this poor low-level furnishings so much so as to leave a review with a rating of 3 as if you had slept in the worst dives of the third world? We disagree with your assessment and are sorry that you are using the review to get back at the fact that you were reprimanded for smoking in your room in defiance of the rules of the property.

Verified reviewTerrible Experience - Unsafe and Unhygienic My stay at this Airbnb was the worst I’ve ever experienced. The host who met me was extremely vulgar, hostile, and made me feel unsafe from the moment I arrived. He was the only point of contact, and despite my efforts, I couldn’t reach anyone else to voice my concerns. The room was filthy, and despite the listing stating otherwise, the host would enter the property daily to "clean," but this was nothing more than an excuse to be intrusive. Each time, he yelled loudly on the phone, creating a constant state of stress and discomfort. To make matters worse, he locked the kitchen, denying me access to the fridge and basic facilities. One night, he even switched off the electricity, causing the room to become unbearably hot and humid, which led to bugs emerging in the middle of the night. The conditions were so poor that I was unable to sleep throughout my stay. I strongly advise against booking this place. It’s unsafe, unsanitary, and the host’s behavior is completely unacceptable. I would avoid this listing at all costs.
Surreal situation.. You booked 1 double room for single use or for one person, but you showed up at check-in as a couple with your girlfriend. Nonetheless we welcomed you... we explained the problem to you and asked you to pay the difference, you refused saying it was Booking.com's fault We contacted Booking.com support and asked them to intervene but you had provided a false telephone number so they wrote to you via email and you sent them to hell by refusing to pay, which is why the Booking operators .com reported you for misconduct. The next morning when the cleaning boy knocked on your door to ask for money at 12:00 you threatened, offended and denigrated him. We called the police who intervened to make you pay and following this you waited until everyone had left and the building was empty and then you proceeded to destroy everything, stealing the Internet modem, a shelf and the keys to the room, the apartment and finally you left a candle lit on the parquet with the intention of setting everything on fire. We have filed a complaint and for this reason you will have to face the consequences with Italian law and instead of having the common sense to remain silent you offend and tell lies?!?! For this reason we will also report you for slander and defamation. I conclude by telling you that you have violated Booking's rules by publicly offending and we will take action for this. This is all scandalous! Luckily, the over 300 reviews demonstrate who we are and who you really are!

The staff mixed our checkout date and thought we should have left a day earlier than it was booked. Then he blocked our car, to get an additional 20 euros for a late check out, which we didn’t need to pay (as it wasn’t the checkout day). We wanted to leave with the car for a day trip, but needed to wait until he came to free the car. This was very aggressive and we thought it is worth a mention in the review. Following that, we got contacted via WhatsApp and he got further aggressive, abusive, rude and racist. We travel a lot and have never experienced such behaviour. This really ruined the experience we had in this place.

Some more attention needs to be paid to cosmetics...wood paneling above bathroom shower popping out, ripped curtains, stained sheets/towels. Also noise coming in from street at night & slamming doors from other tenants made it hard to sleep at night. One other item I will note. I stayed here 2 nights. On the night I arrived, i paid the owner tourist tax but he forgot to ask for parking. He proceeded to text asking me to come back or meet me tomorrow. As I had given him last of my small bills for tourist tax all I had were 50s, which I tried to break into smaller bills at several shops while i was out during evening but had no luck. I texted him next morning saying i wasnt able to break larger bills but would have it for him following day when i checked out. I received a ton of whats app messages saying he needed the 6 Euros today and couldnt wait until tomorrow...it was absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. I was on a paid tour in San Giovanni catacombs, which I couldnt enjoy because my phone was blowing up. I only had 1 day in Siracusa/Ortigia, which was cut short by severe thunderstorms. I came back to my room turned TV on and fell asleep. I was woken up by a knock on my door at 630pm along with 3 other messages asking me to pay. I gave him the money and said i had been sleeping. A few minutes later I received 3 more messages saying he didnt think i was asleep, heard the tv and me talking on the phone?!?! I was very uncomfortable at this pt. Ive never dealt with such behavior from a host before and I travel a lot. I always pay what is owed. Chasing me down for 6 euros when I said would leave for him at checkout... UPDATE PER OWNER RESPONSE: I paid 10 Euros owed. I paid 4 euros in tourist tax on day I arrived and remaining 6 Euros on day evening he knocked on my door. IPlease stick to the truth, which I stated above. Thank you!
You showed up at check-in without money to pay the tourist tax and parking even though you were aware of having to pay that amount at check-in. Out of politeness we told you that there were no problems and that you could leave them on the shelf in your room so that we would take them the next morning when we came in to do the cleaning, but coincidentally the next morning when we couldn't find them and we sent you 1 reminder message you told us that you weren't there. managed to change them and that you would do it later on your return. The day passed around 7pm after welcoming a customer into the facility, seeing as you had already returned to your room because I had noticed the light in your room on, I had heard the TV on and I had heard you talking on the phone... with the utmost respect I sent you 1 single message informing you that being at home at that moment you could pay at that moment, but you not only read and ignored the message because the double blue ticks appeared on WhatsApp confirming it but you also immediately proceeded to turn off the TV to pretend to be asleep, so as to avoid paying. So, recognizing the subject, seeing what had happened, I knocked on your door and what's even more serious, instead of paying me the amount owed, i.e. €10.00, you put 5 euros and 38 cents in coins into my hands with an angry and rude manner as if you were doing me a favor, and in an annoyed tone you stated that you were sleeping and that's why we had been rude... But in reality it wasn't true, you were wide awake and very angry because I had forced you to pay and nevertheless I preferred not to fuel controversy I took those few coins and left without replying, and this is scandalous and unacceptable. If you read the reviews of this property carefully, you can immediately see that the low ratings are given exclusively by people who tried not to pay for something, were denied an additional service for free, or were not allowed to leave their luggage after the check-out. You answer yourself, there's no need to comment.

Verified reviewThere was nobody at the location to check us in. Even though we were there at the right check in hour, shown in Booking. I called the property phone number several times, but nobody responded and they did not call us back. In the end (after waiting for one hour in front of the property) we went to another hotel.
1) Did you say you showed up and didn't find anyone? Obviously there was no one there, we are a bnb not a hotel with 24 hour reception so the arrival time must always be communicated and agreed upon. 2) If it were true that you arrived during the opening hours you would have called the property and we would have welcomed you, alternatively you would have called the booking assistance and they would have ascertained the problem and tried to resolve it and instead none of this was done. 3) You could have requested protection and you didn't. In truth, I believe that you didn't show up due to unforeseen circumstances of your own and you are angry because we still charged the cost of the camera as it should be. This is why you are taking revenge with the review. Patience.

It is scandalous that you use reviews to take revenge for something you didn't like, it is scandalous that in this era of feminicides and violence against women you allow yourself to make serious unfounded accusations such as sexual harassment and abuse without having actually suffered them any of them and it is absurd that you use it at your will to harm people with whom you have had differences of thought, it is scandalous that the booking.com portal allows you to do so, thus offending the staff by making false but very serious accusations. No comment really!

Verified reviewWhile the B&B may have some positives, my stay was overshadowed by unexpected restrictions. Be advised: check-ins are NOT permitted from 11:00-15:30 and 18:00-22:00. This detail wasn’t evident until after I made my reservation, which led to unforeseen challenges. Additionally, there’s no facility to store luggage before check-in or after check-out. I was taken aback when the host attempted to charge me 20€ to keep my luggage a mere 45 minutes beyond check-out. I opted not to pay the fee, resulting in me having to venture out onto the street with my belongings. Prospective guests should be thoroughly informed of these constraints before booking.
