How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis hotel lived up to our expectations and more. We cannot single out anything because it was all just perfect from the cleanliness of the whole hotel, variety and quality of the breakfast, location of the hotel, comfortable beds, we could go on and on. Rest assured you will not be disappointed. From the moment we stepped into the hotel and were greeted by Julia, we knew that this was going to be a wonderful stay. Julia and her colleague, Rosanna the two receptionists were friendly, kind, efficient, helpful and couldn't do enough for you always with a smile on their faces. All staff, without exception, were always friendly and helpful. We stayed in a Superior Room with a seafront balcony which was worth the extra money and gave us a lovely platform to sit and have a drink, watch the world go by and see the amazing fireworks for Ferragosta. We would recommend that if you want to use the beach the hotel has a link to the Billionaire Beach Club 700 yards away and the hotel can pre-book this for you. Whilst this is not cheap, 40 Euros a day for two beds and a parasol, it is well worth it as there is also a bar serving a range of food. You can collect and return free beach towels from the hotel reception each day. We should also mention that we used the taxi organised by the hotel and if you require a transport or around the local area, we would recommend that you use this family run taxi firm, thank you Luca and Carmelo. If we holiday in Giardini Naxos again (maybe next year) we would not hesitate to stay at the Nautilus Hotel again - Thank you everyone at Nautilus - ciao!

Verified reviewThe staff is super friendly and the location is great, next to the sea (keep in mind there’s a road between the hotel and the sea). It’s also very easy to take the bus to Taormina and avoid parking in a small town in busy high season. The hotel is great if you want to stay close to the sea and have the option to visit Taormina.
Parking is very difficult but the hotel offers paid parking- I would recommend going straight to the hotel and go for that option. We had a room with sea view and if possible I would go for that option, it’s really what makes this hotel so special.

Verified reviewLocation, staff and breakfast were all great.
The balcony seating would have been better with cushions as the metal heats up. A coffee machine in the room would have been nice.

Verified reviewSuperb service from friendly staff. Thoughtfully and tasteful designed and furnished rooms. Breakfast well above expectations. Very good location. Very good communication.
It’s not cheap given that it has no hotel facilities eg pool etc and that many rooms look into a light well or similar, but it’s very good just the same.

Verified reviewThe location was good and view from balcony was lovely.
Our room had an awful smell of cigarette smoke for the duration of our stay. The air con worked whenever it felt like it and our key card fob which gave electricity to the room was very temperamental. Some staff members tried to help but couldn’t, however the rest of them were just in-denial of any smell and didn’t help at all.

Verified reviewThe hotel is located half-way along the promenade, with a public beach in front of it. It’s handy for local restaurants (lots of nice places to eat) . Staff very friendly and helpful - they can’t do enough for you. Rooms cleaned every day with fresh towels. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel is perfect for people who want a relaxing beach holiday.
NOT THE HOTEL’s FAULT. With hindsight it probably isn’t the best location for a family (with no car) as there isn’t much to do. Taormina is far more lively and we spent a lot on taxis getting up there and back (if you do get taxis don’t use Uber you’ll be ripped off) . If you hire a car then good luck with parking as the road doesn’t seem to have much parking along it. One small note: we were not a fan of the taxi company the hotel uses. The boss, Carmelo is nice enough but never stops talking and at times tried to show me stuff on his phone while driving - he actually turned around to show us!! After that I always sat in the front so he wouldn’t do that again. And his son (who took us to the airport) is a dangerous driver. He was doing 120kph on a road limited to 100. This was while rummaging round in a bag of sweets that he kept eating - often not paying much attention to the road. He is not cut out for the job and the sooner Carmelo realises this the better (hopefully the hotel read this and pass it on). The son also asked us why we had brought the pickup time forward by 30 minutes - like he was really put out by it. Sorry but that’s none of your business! Sorry to the hotel that I’ve taken up review space to moan about the taxi company but in a way it reflects on the hotel if the company they use puts their patrons in danger.

Verified reviewThe room and the bathroom were spacious and sparkling clean. Breakfast was amazing, delicious and big variety (from scramble eggs and bacon to torta della nonna!). The hotel is exceptionally located right in front of the beach, close to restaurants, cafes and a very convenient parking. Best of all was the staff, who was lovely, attentive and always smiley. Can’t wait to go back!

Verified reviewRemarkable hospitality here! The receptionist, Julia, helped us find a parking spot, book our tour to Mt. Etna and a boating excursion, and also gave us some great tips for restaurants in Taormina. She was one of the friendiest staff members we encountered during our trip, and made our stay truly unforgettable.
Parking is a bit tedious.
