How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewI understand that parking in Cinque Terre can be limited. I know that from my own research of the area, but the arrival instructions were terrible!!!! I asked multiple times, how/where to park and the answer was-quote -"park on the hill of Manarola." Which hill? There are hills all over the place!! Like we have ever been to this area of the world before. We were stopped by the police and told to turn around, He wouldn't let me explain that we were given bad directions by the host. Not a friendly encounter with the police. A GPS location for parking would have been better. Or as other places we stayed on this trip, arrangements with a local parking facility. Or instructions like this- "If you get to the guard gate, you've gone too far- don't use the call box and try to enter. Turn around and park at the parking lot that you just past."
We’re glad you rated your stay at NIBEA SUITE an 8 out of 10, though we must admit we were a bit surprised by your comments about the directions. We sent several messages clearly suggesting that the best way to reach the apartment was to park in La Spezia and take the train, which would have dropped you just 80 meters from the front door. It’s an easy, scenic, and stress-free solution! Of course, even in 2025, some travelers still choose the adventure of driving. Nothing wrong with that but Manarola is a very small village with just one road, one hill, and one parking area. So when you say “there are hills everywhere,” we couldn’t help but smile: maybe you packed a little extra landscape in your luggage! 😉 We understand that navigating unfamiliar places can be tricky, but that’s exactly why we provided detailed instructions and clear alternatives. We still hope you took home some great memories of the village (and maybe a touch of humor for your next trip to Italy)!

Verified reviewThe location is quite convenient to the train station. The ferry is only a short walk away since the town is very small. There is a grocery store a few steps from the entrance to the property. The property itself is quite comfortable with a nice bed. Most of the view is of adjacent rooftops but you can see the clock tower and a bit of the vineyards on the hills behind
The kitchen did not have any working wine opener which was frustrating since the Cinque Terra has a unique white wine we wanted to try.

Verified reviewGreat location, right in the heart of Manarola, which was our favourite Terre out of the five.
Hot water in the shower only lasted five to six minutes, this made showering very difficult with a family of four, especially after visiting the beach. Also there was no hand soap provided in the bathroom and no ironing facilities.

Verified reviewManarola is a gem and this apartment is perfectly situated in town. It has views of the village from a great little balcony...The town is small so everything is nearby...We enjoyed our time there and would definitely stay again I like that they recycle and made it easy.
Although working the bedroom air conditioner needed maintenance and I let the owner know...they were getting it done. More my issue since i was not familiar with the type of stove top...but a few instructions on how to work the appliances would help None of these were serious and definitely did not change our overall great experience

Sofa bed a bit hard but only two nights for the kids so ok, Steep stairs and no light for nighttime when coming and going
