A little gem of a place in an old Italian village

There are not many ways to get around other than driving. I was a little concerned about driving in Naples and Campania, but once I got into the flow, I didn't have any issues. Google Maps worked well.

I was traveling from the US for meetings at CIRA, which is 10km to the northwest. Despite the very interesting Anfiteatro Campano, it's not a very touristic area. There are few, if any, larger hotels in the area, little to no taxi service, and few people speak English. The city center was a short walk away, and was a pleasant place to spend time. Even though I spoke very little Italian, I was able to get by, people were friendly and helpful. The Palazzo Benucci was charming and clean, and had everything I needed, including a private courtyard for parking a rental car. The owner is very responsive by email or text and the local staff support is outstanding. (Google Translate was effective for communicating, when needed.)

    Can’t think of anything

A very clean modern room and shower in very old medieval town. A total surprise. Our host was very nice and accommodating.

The person checking us in said "this is not a hotel" & to be fair, she's right. I should have stayed at a hotel. I stayed in the room at the Queen Rm w/ Balcony, the supposed better room. Internet was either down, unavailable or with a very weak signal. The hallway & kitchen were always freezing cold & the shower water never got hotter than lukewarm. The shower head & door are placed such that the shower head sprays in the area beyond the shower door - soaking the floor. The "housekeeping" service rarely emptied my wastebasket and barely touched the bed (kinda sorta made it up. I could have made it done it much better). I left my breakfast dishes in the sink - sometimes, they were still there the next day. I often had to clean my own dishes. I was there for work, so we left at about 7 AM every day, before the person making breakfast arrived, so we had to make our own breakfast - no problem. There was some prepackaged food available - prewrapped toast, croissants, some jams, coffee, tea & juices. The selection could have been better & more varied.

I stayed in the room at the Queen Rm w/ Balcony, at the end of the hall. Room size was OK for a European B&B. The balcony was nice, when the weather allowed its use. The bed was comfy. Courtyard was nice and what little I saw of the grounds was nice (gate to back yard was locked). Lots of communication w/ the host prior to our arrival. The surrounding area & residence was very quiet.
