How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe loved everything, but the breakfast was especially amazing with all the home made 'dolci'. And our bicycles were kindly allowed in the garage.

Verified reviewA very comfortable, clean room and bathroom. The room was in a seperate residence almost opposite the main hotel property. Staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. It is a short walk from the railway station and the funicular for access to Orvieto town. Breakfast was very homely. There are good restaurants nearby for dinner.
Nothing.

Verified reviewThe BnB is near the station and comfortable. It is set across the road from the main BnB restaurant cafe so morning noise was simply other travellers waking up. The room was lovely, old-fashioned but clean and with all necessities. Clean towels and toiletries ect. It had air-con and a small fridge (it had a tempermental door that needed care to close properly). The owner was very helpful staying later for a very late check-in due to transport issues. They accepted a last minute booking and were very pro active keeping in touch.
It was a pity that the plentiful cake and biscuit breakfast had no ingredient notices - to assist with allergies and in the end the coffee cost half the price of the breakfast itself. It was a good coffee. The walk to the BnB is mostly flat as stated and then is quite an incline. Having large suitcases was a challenge and there is no offer of a pick-up service - which, even at charge, would have been useful.

Verified reviewThe staff was friendly and kind. The room was large by European standards and had a lovely terrace though we didn't really use it since we were only there one night. Thankfully, the room had a strong working AC which was much needed and well worth the nightly rate. There is also a decent pizza place just down the hill which made for a convenient and simple dinner option when we were too tired to make the trip into the actual old town of Orvieto.
The property is located on a steep hill and consists of two separate buildings. We were placed in the secondary building even slightly further up the hill! There is no lift and there are many steps, so if you have any mobility issues this may not be the best place. Overall, the property is older, decor is dated and the fixtures look tired. None of that deterred from a pleasant enough stay for one night and for the price, I wasn't really disappointed.

Verified reviewThe proprietor was a very nice and helpful man. We were placed in the annex building, which at first made me a little worried but it turns out it is a wonderful building no more than 20 yards from the primary building. The annex was beautiful with Marble floors and extremely clean. Our room had a small balcony out the front with a gorgeous view in the direction of the city. The breakfast included would seem to be locally sourced products, including baked goods, meats, and egg, among other items to choose from. The location is very close to the central train station. There is a short but moderately steep walk from the main street to the hotel. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 to 80 m.
There was really nothing about the hotel that we didn’t like. We did not have a car so parking wasn’t an issue for us. Neither of us have mobility issues, but it could be an issue for someone who is mobility challenged.

Verified reviewThis is charming, classic, older hotel that has been nicely kept up. The location is good - a 10 minute walk from the train station and at the base of a lovely path up to the old town on the bluff above. The room was comfortable with a nice balcony overlooking the quiet street. The breakfast was excellent - great coffee, juice, cakes, etc. Great value.

Verified reviewThe room had outside seating area but it was in the annexe which we did not know we were in. Bed was large and comfortable. Handy location from railway station and funicular .
Room was dated. Aircon did not work. No hot water in shower the morning we left. We used cups and saucers on the day of arrival and they were not cleaned or replaced the following day. The hotel is up a steep hill and the annexe is further up the hill. Breakfast average.
you wanted air conditioning even tought it is still fresh, it's too early, we have 10 degrees in the morning and in the night!!!! yesterday a woman asked us heating!!!! about water in the shower, for sure you expected to have hot water immediately but you should have waited at least 5 minutes but you did not. about other complaints it's your opinion, ok

Verified reviewEverything was very good. There were excellent cakes at the breakfast!
They should offer a transport service to Civita di Bagnoregio; the buses are scarce in the morning and taxis are too expensive. It would be a win-win opportunity for the clients and the hotel itself.

Verified reviewLocation was excellent, just a short walk from the train station. Close to a few great restaurants. Breakfast was good and owner/managers were very helpful.
Only problem was that it was a little steep walking up to the hotel but easy in comparison to the rest of Orvietto.
