How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewAn amazing family run hotel. Location is 10/10, room is 10/10(we had a harbour-view balcony), breakfast 10/10, staff 10/10. Cannot recommend highly enough. Our first visit to Desenzano and this hotel is within walking distance of the train station and walking distance to Lake Garda and the ferry terminal. Loads of restaurants close by.

Verified reviewWhat a location ! Couldnt beat it. Really close to lots of beautiful restaurants - spoiled for choice. Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice, beautiful pastries, fruit, egg, meat, cheese all the usual continental breakfast choices. Rooms were comfortable and had air conditioning, minibar was good value. Worried a bit about parking but it was easy - drop luggage off and park in a multistory a short walk away, there was a charge.
If i was being picky i would mention the shower - we were in room 20, it was the smallest shower ive ever been in. Luckily we are not big people or we wouldnt have fitted in there 🤣

Verified reviewStaff was lovely! Breakfast was good but I would have at least expected scrambled eggs for this price. But that's a personal preference and kind of nitpicky from my end ;-). Staff was lovely, breakfast was fresh and elaborate enough, location was PERFECT. Shower was great and the showergel had such a wonderful smell! I loved it :-) the minibar was nice and prices very reasonable! (Beer €3, big bottle of water €1,50) Extra breakfast fee for a guest was also really reasonable(€10), it was so nice they obliged when I had a visitor! I had a lovely time, both the man and woman at the counter are very lovely and kind. Wish I had planned to stay longer, I already miss my balcony view! Very safe location for a woman by herself. Also perfect when you come by ferry! The walk to the station is doable but be prepared to sweat when it's hot out and there are no busses (because of the market, 2 times a week. I know it's atleast on Tuesdays). Doable walk, but up hill ;-)
I thought the balcony was "private", because it said so but it was separated by.. well practically nothing. Would be nice to be able to choose whether to really have a private balcony or have a shared one with just railing separating you. My neighbour literally sat beside me. The airconditioning is set to a standard 23°C, would have liked to be able to set my own preference temperature. It was fine for this temperature though, with 29°C outside I slept wonderfully!

Verified reviewExcellent location, by a lot of restaurants. Great shared terrace looking out over the little port. Breakfast was a small but good selection, with the option to sit outside - which was pleasant before all the crowds arrived in the square. Chose the hotel because of its location and it met the expectations. Air conditioning and lift access was satisfactory.
More instructions for luggage drop off needed, as the hotel sits in a shared traffic zone - which technically private vehicles aren't allowed to enter. We were questioned by police but they accepted the fact we were checking in to the hotel - otherwise could've been fined. Car parking is a multi level garage around 300m away.

We went for a dip in the lake and were told off by local police. Apparently we should have swum from the public beach - we went to look and it was very disappointing (busy, smelly and expensive sunbeds).

Verified reviewFor a hotel of this size the breakfast is very good. Plenty of choices. Nice to be served hot drinks at the table. Albeit with no hot food which might disappoint some. Spacious single room with a bath. In my experience unusual for a bath/shower.

The check-in staff we’re grumpy and unfriendly! And we paid extra 27.70€ for a bottle of water 500mm and two days for a poppy dog 5 kg
Sincerely it seems to us to have welcomed you and your family in the best way, as we do with all guests. Certainly we could not meet your demand to have a triple room (the one you booked) with a view of the marina, because this type does not exist in our hotel. If a negative response, although legitimate, has conditioned your attitude towards us, we can certainly say that it is your problem. Just as it is ridiculous to continue questioning the extra charges: all prices are displayed and made public in hotels or on booking sites, so those who book in our hotel know that an extra of €8,00 is required per night for the presence of small animals and that a bottle of water costs €1,50. Not counting the city tax, which is mandatory. But do I really have to spend my time commenting on this nonsense? Alberto S.

The reception staff were quiet - They were not rude but also not very welcoming when you walked past. The breakfast staff were very friendly though.
