How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewDouglas and AJ are the most welcoming and kind hosts we've ever met. They truly made us feel at home, and their genuine warmth made our trip so memorable. The breakfast was absolutely incredible—a real highlight of our mornings. What impressed us most, however, was their meticulous care for our son's food allergies. They went above and beyond to prepare his food with such attention to detail, which gave us complete peace of mind. Douglas and AJ also shared fantastic recommendations for places to visit and restaurants to try. Their local knowledge helped us discover some real gems that we otherwise would have missed. We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay and can't wait to come back. Thank you, Douglas and AJ, for everything!

Verified reviewWe felt incredibly well taken care of at Podere Lamberto and had an amazing time. The tour with AJ was an absolute highlight – engaging, fun, and full of insights. Both AJ and Douglas also prepare a truly delicious breakfast that made our mornings perfect. We will definitely come back on our next trip to Montepulciano. And make sure to try their wines – they’re absolutely worth it!

Verified reviewA dream place to relax and reflect. Everything was simply perfect! The peace and quiet, the view, the wonderful, caring owners Douglas and AJ. The breakfast was prepared with so much love. Regional products, freshly baked, unusual breads, delicious plums from the garden, and to finish off, great cakes and desserts and a wonderful cappuccino. The olive oil is delicious! Our apartment had everything you need. Comfortable beds, plenty of space for the four of us, furnished with attention to detail. Our hours by the amazing pool were so relaxing and fun for our two children! A perfect place that we will visit again next summer. A perfect holiday combining sightseeing and relaxing by the pool or on the bench with a book. A dream place with very caring people. We are very grateful for the wonderful and precious time and will be back next year! THANK YOU VERY MUCH ♡

Verified reviewThe hosts were the friendliest people and more than happy to help us with recommendations and bookings locally. The property is as beautiful as the pictures. It is along a dusty track but well worth the drive. The location is outrageously beautiful and so peaceful. Our room was a 2 bedroom apartment which was generous in size and the kitchen had everything you would need if you wanted to self cater. The pool area was gorgeous and a lovely spot to spend an hour or two at the end of a day sightseeing. We signed up for the cookery class which was not cheap ( +£100 pp ) but it was a small group and we had a great time. Breakfasts are focused on fresh, local produce and are taken on the pretty terrace. Plenty of parking on site. We would highly recommend as a base for exploring the Montepulciano region.

Verified reviewOh my goodness, the hosts are phenomenal. They go above and beyond to make you feel like you're at home. They get the best locally sourced items for breakfast and coffee. They have si much useful info for you for things in the area and give your a great tour of the property.

Verified reviewPodere Lamberto is absolutely beautiful. A nice boutique vineyard (you can do a visit and wine tasting) with a beautiful property. The light in the evening on the property is breathtaking. We were staying with our two kids in the two bedroom appartement which was perfect. Needless to say, they loved the pool. They also provided a crib and a high chair for our baby, which is great. The breakfast were simply delicious, with all local sourced food. And last but not least, the owners were so welcoming! We hope to come back one day!

Access road was unpaved and in rough condition.

Yes, the road is unfortunately not the best, and it has been the worst it's ever been, this year. The big trucks in the area as a result of the logging definitely did not help the situation. We are hoping that this won't be the case for next year.

You may want to advise potential guests to get a car with a little extra ground clearance as the last mile or 2 of road is a bit rough.
