Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNo complaints.
Walkable to all the sites I wanted to see. Catacombs a little far and took a taxi. Friendly and helpful staff. Side street away from excessive noise of via Maqueda and other busy spots.

AustraliaDisappointed that a 4 star hotel doesn’t provide a bottle of water. Every other hotel we have stayed in Italy provided this. Construction is going on across from hotel which can be noisy early morning. Massage wouldn’t recommend was very light oil rub. I’ve had many “relaxing massages” before and not like this. When asked she said have to pay more for firmer pressure.

AustraliaRooms are a little stuffy - it wasn't hot enough to warrant a/c - asked twice if a fan was possible but never eventuated .... which is a small complaint.
Good size room .... beds are super comfy .... enjoyed the rooftop terrace bistro for breakfast ... most of the staff were friendly - particularly housekeeping and hospitality staff .... within walking distance of the old town

AustraliaRoom was a little stuffy ... it wasn't hot enough to warrant air-con .... a fan would be good addition to the room..... in fairness I haven't asked for one so they could be available
Great hotel close to everything. Clean room and comfy beds. Great little roof-top bar/bistro which is also where breakfast is served. The breakfast has a great selection of food catering to most. All in all this hotel is a fabulous place to stay

IrelandThe street noise from 208 Firstly a group waiting outside the hotel at 6.30 am, possibly for transport .then a very very noisy truck.
The room was nice 208 but had to request a change after two nights to the quiet side, having been woken at 6.30 both mornings with street noise. The staff accommodated this for us

United StatesThe breakfasts weren't to my taste. The coffee (from a machine) had very little flavor and the buffet offerings were fewer and of lesser quality than at most hotels in this price range.
Clean, modern public areas and rooms. Good location within walking distance of most parts of the old town.

United KingdomMy bed was too hard. Noisy building work outside room.
Breakfast was very good. Great selections and changed daily. The room was quite small and dark and we had building work opposite our room so quite noisy. We didn’t use spa which is 20 euros each and needed to book.

CanadaThe place lacks the sparkle, comfort and charm of a good 4 star hotel. The property could do with an upgrade and a special effort to making the place more comfortable and homely (e.g. better quality sheets, towels and pillows, sleepers, bathrobe). The property could also make more of an effort in terms of sustainability (e.g. providing shampoo and hand soap in refillable distributors). The breakfast is average, especially for a nation that prides itself on food there could be more of an effort to provide quality local and seasonal products (instead of cheap grocery bought sliced cheese, for example). The staff at breakfast are quite unpleasant and not very helpful. They are constantly hovering like lions in a cage and watching over your shoulder instead of making themselves useful (by making coffee or clearing up empty plates). They rather spoiled the nice view that you have in the terrace. The staff at reception are efficient but rather cold, some improvement could be made in the way customers are welcomed and treated and explanation given.
The staff were very prompt to respond to my questions through the messaging app which is always appreciated. It’s great to have breakfast outdid on the terrace. The room and bathroom are spacious and clean. The location is great (near the harbor and the centre).

NetherlandsThe breakfast was very good. The location is in walking distance from the center. The rooms are very clean with new spring box beds and new mattresses. The staff is very professional and helpful, from reception, cleaning and serving. We asked for a silent room and we got what we asked for. Cocktail bar was very good. The reception can book a taxi or a shared taxi to the airport but that's quite expensive (50 euros per person).

CyprusI believe it’s lacking a swimming pool.
Room was spacious, comfy and with a great view to the historic centre! Waking up to this view really felt like being part of an old Italian movie 😉. Breakfast on the top floor was superb and breakfast room balcony views next to none! I also enjoyed the spa and massage services of thd hotel which are really good and value for money ! Although not right in the middle of the historic centre, it is still close enough to walk for 10-15mins. Very conveniently located, but still away from the touristic crowds. Very closed to the beach as well!
