How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The service was bad. I really wanted to love this property but the service felt like a bunch of teenagers left unattended and not a 5 star hotel. We stayed for 3 nights and it seemed like most people on stayed for one. Breakfast and dinner service was chaotic and very clear that all the staff were stressed to the point they were telling us about it at the table. The staff rarely approached us but instead stood around talking to each other until we had to wave them down. One day I did not a single staff member on the property from 12-2pm when I was by the pool and in the spa. The spa staff was on their cell phone talking loudly while walking around. There was a family that came into the spa with a small yelling child, the mom was on the phone in the hot tub. Everyone else left and the staff did nothing. If you are expecting five star service, I do not recommend coming here.

We were treated like royalty and given an upgraded suite which was such a wonderful surprise as we were there for our 10 year wedding anniversary. The restaurant, staff and grounds were fantastic. The room was the best we've ever experienced!!
Due to the fairly remote location it would be nice to have another restaurant on site or more variety of options for lunch/dinner.

Verified reviewWe stayed at this hotel for 7 nights and had a wonderful stay. There was a problem with our first room. We let reception know and the hotel immediately resolved the issue in a very generous manner. Excellent, spacious room with great amenities. Fantastic breakfast each morning with hot and cold foods, including eggs and pancakes cooked to order. The property has three beautiful outdoor pools and an indoor spa. The staff are excellent and very accommodating. The location is beautiful, surrounded by vineyards and the hills of Tuscany. The hotel is close to Chianciano-Terme and about a 20-25 minute drive to Montepulciano. It is a very family friendly hotel, we encountered plenty of families with their children. There is a pool specifically for families which was good. We enjoyed the free cantucci biscuits provided in our room each day, and were pleasantly surprised to receive biscuits and truffle oil as a gift on checkout. Excellent hotel, we would love to stay again and will highly recommend to family and friends!
The lunch and dinner menus are limited and quite expensive. Given we stayed 7 nights it would’ve been good to see a different menu on certain nights, or another option for dinner dining that was perhaps more informal. We also encountered a large number of wasps on the property, around the pools and while dining outside. Obviously this is not in the property’s control but we felt more could’ve been done by the property to try to control the amount of wasps. It made it difficult to enjoy eating outside or spending too long by the pool.
