Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

UkraineThe only downside is that check-in is only possible until 6 PM, which can be inconvenient and requires careful planning.
A cozy hostel with friendly staff and spacious, comfortable rooms. I stayed for one night and enjoyed it. Good location and price.

SerbiaI liked everything, so here I’ll post some usefull info: * There’s no wi-fi, use it while in restourants. * There’s no soap, bring your own. * You can get a towel (quite big) for deposit of 5€, that is returned upon the check-out. * You can borrow a hair-dryer (either for 10€ deposit or dry your hair in the livingroom next to their office). * There’s a curfew, return to the hotel at 23h latest, unless you are attending opera in the arena and in that case show the tickets and return within 30min after the opera has finished.
Room and toilet look new and clean (10 out of 10). Bed is very comfortable and there’s no noise, I slept really well. AC works all the time and temperature is pleasant (~25C), yet it’s not blowing at anyone directly (it’s placed in the lobby). Stuff is friendly. Warm recomendations. 🤗 PS Check the livingroom/library, it’s so cute. 🧸🌸📚

New ZealandOutside temperatures were fairly intense and the air con preset at 25 for upper dorms was quite warm. A minor issue as it was crazy hot outside.
Its a great place to stay as a solo female traveller. The volunteers are lovely and very helpful. Dorms very clean, modern, and spacious, great bathroom. The location is easy walking to all the old city sites.

New ZealandThere is nothing I could critique about my stay here.
Protezione della Giovane exceeded my expectations. The staff were incredible, and extremely accommodating. I had booked to go to the Opera and they made sure to leave the door open for me when I returned, and checked that everyone who went was back safely. The room itself was immaculately clean, and extremely comfortable. Each person had a large locker to store their luggage in. This was the best hostel I have ever stayed in, and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else if I come back to Verona. Not to mention, all the staff were volunteers and the money you pay goes directly to supporting women and children in need. I cannot recommend staying here enough!! Thank you to everyone at Protezione della Giovane!!

United StatesNo kitchen, but there was a fridge in the room, and little cups and spoons for you to make your tea or coffee. The curfew doesn't let you explore night life but that's the trade for staying in the girls' hostel!
I liked that it was in a fabulous location, great price, and the rooms were way more spacious than expected. It was a large room with an upstairs loft; half the beds were on the first floor and the other 5 were on the upper floor and it seemed they had their own bathroom too. large lockers, bring a lock, make up your bed with the sheets they leave. No towels included

United KingdomThe bathroom has no window and although spotless, felt very uninviting and past its best.
Lovely volunteer staff, great atmosphere, amazing location. Although the dormitory of 10 was full after I booked, there were only 3 of us. The building is right in the old town, charming and quiet. It felt very safe.

GermanyTwo small complaints, but almost not worth mentioning: It was quite warm in Verona during my visit, and the two air conditioners in the room didn't seem strong enough to properly cool the relatively large room. It would have helped if they had been set a little lower. Also, there was no remote control for the ceiling fan. We ended up helping ourselves by opening the windows, which created a somewhat refreshing breeze. However, I'm sure the staff would have addressed these issues if I had asked as they were always very helpful.
I had a wonderful stay at this hostel in the heart of Verona's old town. The atmosphere was peaceful, friendly, and welcoming, with caring and helpful staff. The room was simple but well-organized, with 7 or 8 beds across two levels and a private bathroom plus multiple sinks. Despite having just one shower, there were no issues with wait times. Everything was kept exceptionally clean, with daily cleaning of the bathroom. The cozy common room near the entrance was perfect for relaxing, equipped with comfy sofas, a large table, books, and even a piano. While guests can't use the kitchen, the hostel's location and amenities more than made up for it. The curfew at 11 PM was clearly communicated and made exceptions for opera-goers, contributing to a secure feeling. What makes this place truly special is that it operates as part of a social project, offering housing for women in need. The hostel supports this cause by reinvesting part of the revenue into helping these women and their children. As a guest, you share the building with them, creating a lively, respectful, and warm environment. Since only women (and their children) stay here, the atmosphere felt extra safe and protected. I truly appreciated the sense of community and felt very comfortable during my stay. I would happily return!

RomaniaThe most central, fairly priced place to stay as a woman in Verona! It's really in the heart of the old town and it's a very safe place to spend your holiday in beautiful Verona. Knowing that what you pay for accommodation goes to helping women in need makes the stay here all the more worth it. The staff is kind and the dorms are very spacious and clean. Read the policies of this place before booking so the curfew doesn't take you by surprise. It was absolutely relaxing to have everyone in the room home and in bed before midnight. Would absolutely stay again!

United KingdomThe only problem was the temperature in the dormitory. It was too hot for me. There is air con but for some reason the control for it is held by the staff so you have to ask for the temperature to be changed if you want it changed. I was told the minimum temperature on the AC is about 23 but still felt too hot for me. I guess it's what you're used to though so other people might find the temperature fine. I would definitely stay again but in the cooler months.
This hostel is a brilliant find for the following reasons: -its right in the middle of the old part of Verona -its really good value for money -it's run by an organisation that supports women in need so your money is going towards a good cause. -the staff are very friendly and helpful -theres a fridge in the bedroom so you can buy stuff from the supermarket and store it in there. -there was an area for leaving your luggage. -the property felt secure and safe I was also pleased to find that the 10 bed dorm I booked turned out to be an 8 and it also wasn't completely full. The dorm is also on two levels in a room with a very high ceiling so you feel quite spaced out from each other.

PolandI think a microwave would be a big help, for people on a budget it’s very hard to eat cold food every day, and even heating up some ready food from the store would be enough :)

United KingdomThe lockers didn’t lock when you put the lock on it, room is quite dark/not much natural light comes in, you can only enter the hostel between certain hours & the location is great but a little bit of a walk to the nearest bus stop which is slightly inconvenient if you have lots of luggage. No access to the kitchen too for short/temporary stays.
Air conditioning was amazing, room was a huge size - very spacious, bathroom was clean, fridge was useful, hostel in a great location & staff are very lovely.

FranceOf course your experience can also depend on the people with who you will share the room (and the bathroom...!). I was lucky on that side and also shared a really nice moment with a girl from Brasil on my last day ♥. Be aware that you need to bring your own towel and products for the bathroom.
For the price honestly the best option. I felt safe in the hostel for my first solo trip and I would definitely come back again. The staff was really friendly, the location absolutely perfect with a beautiful view of the city from the room. Every big attractions are reachable by foot and the Castel San Pietro is really easy to reach as well : funicolare or also by foot (if you can do it, i really recommend to go by foot, the path is worth it).
