The hotel is advertised as a wellness & spa but the spa is not included so may not be available and the pricing is not transparent - the site mentions 60 euro per person for 3 hours but we were charged 149 euro for 2 persons for 2 hours.

Beautiful location and lovely room with great view.

An exceptional hotel with wonderful views. Service was suberb and the restuarant is excellent, as is the seafront area. We loved our stay and highly recommend it for people seeking to stay a little outside Trieste - a very short drive but feels like another world.

Old school riviera charm without being dated

    • Deluxe Double Room with Sea View and Terrace

The restaurant is OK but nothing more. The selection is short and the food was a bit dull for the price and we probably expected better considering the standards of the rest of the hotel.

The hotel has a fantastic setting and view over the sea. The hotel keeps a high standard and has lots of old school riviera charm without being dated. Our room had double glass doors facing the sea and a balcony, and was very clean and tidy. The sea front with courtesy towels and sun bed and a handy beach bar worked really well and is private. You can walk down the stairs to the beach, if you don't like taking the elevator down from the hotel to the sea. The breakfast was really good with plenty to choose from.

I believe more meal options in the bar menu will be great. Really limited options if you do not want to go for lunch or dinner. However, they always found a way to serve us (thx Douglas)

Stunningly beautiful hotel reflecting Austro-Hungarian opulence and modern comfort

We did not enjoy our dinner at the very fancy, expensive restaurant. The service was not great (the waiter was not friendly, patient, or attentive) and the food was not great either. We were quite disappointed with the experience and had a much better dinner in downtown Trieste the next night.

Austro-Hungarian opulence meets modern convenience and comfort. This is a fantastic hotel with stunning views from your room and from every spot on the property. We received great service and loved the beauty of the place.

My sea view room had a lot of bushes blocking the view. There were some ants crawling around the room.

The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice with a beautiful view of the sea. The private parking lot was very helpful.

The Hotel experience was just fab. The staff were so nice - but a special word of thanks must go to Gabriel @ reception - his knowledge and advice on the region of Trieste and his overall interest in the 'guest' made our short break that much better - especially the ''ferry'' trip tips. Highly recommend the Hotel Riviera.

Hotel Riviera is located near Miramare five miles or so outside of Trieste. Lots of free parking on site. Beautiful views from the deck. Access to the ocean mid-May. Staff is friendly and very helpful. You can get to Trieste by taxi, 20-30 Euro, bus #6 1.5 Euro or the nearby Miramare train stop which is up on the side of the mountain and you will never find it without Goggle maps. It is possible to walk to Miramare along the coast rode, first right down to the nearby boat anchorage. Gate opens at 0800. There is a sidewalk for most of the journey so it is safe. Or with the help of Goggle maps you can go to Via Beirut 15 and enter the castle gardens and walk down to the castle. Gate also opens at 0800. Stairs up the hill to the gate are located just prior to the road tunnel. Miramare train stop is also in this area.

For the price of the room, you still have to pay an additional fee to book the spa, which I didn't see so I can't say if it's worth paying for. The hotel restaurant for dinner is quite fancy, which was nice for 1 night but I don't know if it would be so for multiple nights considering the steep prices. Making a dinner for 2 cost more than the room, but this is a subjective matter :)

The location is phenomenal, with an amazing view of the Trieste coast, generally the decor and feel of the whole hotel is mesmerizing, submerdged in the greenery of its gardens. The room is cozy with good light. Breakfast had a decent amount to choose from and you eat with a beautiful view :)
