How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewExcellent traditional hospitality. The staff were very helpful with information, especially parking, which can be awkward. The recommended off site carpark with a shuttle service removed the stress of finding spaces. A very enjoyable stay in a gem of a small coastal town.

Verified reviewGood location.in a nice historical.building
Even if the hotel is located in a beautiful historical building we had a horrible experience un there All started when we asked the so call lady manager to call us a taxi for Lido San Francesco (a day before we had used a taxi from the hotel to Bari Centro Vechio - 50 euro). She called a friend of her Lorenzo, with a private transfer, even if we asked for taxi. That guy, chaeced us 70 euro. Return with normal taxi - 40 euro When we told her that she scammed us , (maybe she had a percent of that money),the so called manager, a lady was very agressve both verbal and physical. It was something that i never met, the manager of o hotel to scream and threaten the tourists. She sad that Giovinazzo have no taxi and we have to pay 30 euro tax, just to come from Bari Another lie. We called Taxi Bari - 35 euro.to airport If you stay at this hotel don't let yourself scammed by that lady and her friend Lorenzo Another lie, is that you have free wi-fi in the room. Wi-fi works just in the lobby. Inside the room you don't have any signal, not even normal cell signal (thick walls) Another lies - no restaurant, no functional bar , roof top bar - just for weekends So don't choose this hotel, they are totally unprofessional and they lie a lot

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay at S. Martin Hotel in Giovinazzo! Everything was perfect – the room was spotless, and cleaning was done daily, which we really appreciated. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. A special thank you to Francesco for all his recommendations for great local restaurants and for helping us with reservations – it made our experience even more enjoyable. The hotel itself has a unique charm and atmosphere that makes it truly special. We felt very comfortable and well taken care of. We sincerely hope to return soon!

Verified reviewThe staff was incredible. Very friendly, professional, and willing to assist in any way. The rooms were beautiful and the location couldn't be better. Walking distance to the beach, great restaurants, and center square.
The only thing for a family of 5, two bathrooms would have been perfect.

Verified reviewHotel is amazing! Beautifully located with plenty of great restaurants around. Excellent service and very helpful staff. Rooms are specious and very clean. The building itself is beautiful. There is possibly to leave a car on the guarded parking. We could not complain on anything. Hotel has a rooftop with amazing view which was a additional bonus. We enjoyed our stay very much and if we will come back to the region for sure we will stay again in the hotel.
Nothing.

Verified reviewWe were in #206 and we were quite pleased with the room. It was spacious and comfortable. The morning breakfast has a nice array of offerings and the cappuchini were delicious.
We encourage you to do maintenance on the walls and ceiling where the paint is spalling from the inevitable moisture in the stone. It's constant maintenance, we know (we live in a stone house in Polignano a Mare), but it matters for health and appearances. Additionally, leave printed instructions (multiple languages) for the AC so that the light does not blink next to the matrimonial bed all night. That started about 3am in our room (earlier in our friends' room). It was so annoying we had to get up to figure out how to make it stop (we got it to be less bright, but it continued pulsing on and off all night).

Verified reviewThe hotel has a unique atmosphere and is located in the best place in the city - in the middle of the old charming streets and right by the sea. The gentleman at the reception is very helpful and kind. Very nice and smiling staff at breakfast (with great pastries and coffee). None of our requirements were a problem for the hotel staff.
We would have appreciated a fridge in the room given the extreme heat outside. The only thing that slightly spoiled our impression of an otherwise perfect accommodation was the mold in the shower.

Verified reviewThe location and hotel itself are lovely.
We had room 320 and there was black mold everywhere in the bathroom and evidence of it in the bedroom. We informed the front desk woman and she blew us off!

Verified reviewThis is a hotel in a 12the century Norman monastery. We liked the architecture, the decor, the location, the staff, the food and the Sky Bar. Has a great restaurant and there are other good ones near by. All good value for money and great food. The hotel has a good selection of local wines. The staff can't do enough for you.
