How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe room was light and airy, the bed was very comfortable, street parking out the front was easily accessible, and it was only a short walk to an area with a good number of restaurants for breakfast and an evening meal. There were little touches in the room that made our stay very comfortable - quality teas, a little gift on the bed, tissues, a dedicated space for our suitcases, a chair to sit in, and good quality towels and toiletries in the ensuite.

Verified reviewPerfect for a 1-night stay in a charming little town. Very comfortable and clean space with all the modern comforts and well thought-out little things such as abundant storage space, kettle for tea-making, toothbrush holder, etc. Parking is free and super convenient just around the corner, which was handy having a few pieces of luggage. Short walk to the centre, and not far from the castle. Highly recommend.
The pillows could be better, they are a little too flat but it’s down to personal preference.

The curtains block the air conditioning, meaning the room can get very warm. We had to pull the curtains up and rest them on the window sill.

Verified reviewThe location is absolutely fantastic 🤩. Really close to the city center. The studio is nicely decorated and amenities like water, coffee, tea and shampoo were provided. Cleanliness is definitely in order. WiFi works fine. Apartment has everything like a cabinet, a small desk etc.
Apartment was smaller than I expected. The airconditioning is definitely due for an upgrade. It doesn’t really cool it down all that much, especially with 32-34 degrees outside. The filter on the airconditioning was broken, which resulted in a very noisy machine next to my head. In such instances a gesture or discount would have been appropriate.

The air conditioning broke down ... the air cooled the room but it was loud. As we mentioned, it was replaced 2 days after you left. Fortunately, we live on a beautiful and sunny island, but unfortunately we have to wait for spare parts of the equipment to sail across the sea 🥴 for this reason, sometimes it is not possible to arrange anything in advance and the fees are, as you know, high. There is a saying in our town that when it rains, you wait until it stops 😌 best regards and despite everything we hope that you remember us well 😉

Probably google maps fault - but on our way to the property maps sent us into a tiny asly that we nearly got stuck, watch out to maps there! 🤣

Verified reviewSpacious, comfortable flat with a view up to the castle on the outside of town, just a short walk to the centre. Calm and peaceful. In a perfect location where we could relax after a busy day. Easy on street parking beside the building.

The appartment is not like the pictures. The bed is actually about 4 meters away from the kitchen. So not in the loft, and not at all a "separate sleeping area" as advertised. The loft is a totally empty space, with not even a chair to sit on. We would not have booked this place if we would have known that the bed is almost in the kitchen.. Also, There is no big couch like in the pictures, but a small sofa against the wall. The kitchen has only one burner, so difficult to prepare a meal.

Good morning.Thank you very much for your opinion, we are sorry that you felt cold in the room, for this reason we always reiterate our proposal that if there is anything that disturbs your stay, call us, write a text message, let us know and we will try to fix everything, unfortunately in this case you did not inform us about the cold in the room, the heating is set automatically to 23 degrees, the radiator in the bathroom works 24 hours a day, while the air flow under the window can be adjusted at your own discretion, thank you very much, best regards.
