How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThis property is AMAZING! It’s a very long time since we’ve stayed anywhere that was as lovely as this. Excellent communication from staff and we were allowed to drop our bags in early. The apartment is absolutely beautiful. Wonderfully comfortable bed, high quality linens and beautifully stocked kitchen. It’s in a perfect position right in the centre of the old town. I wish all places were this fabulous. Thanks a mill - if we could give you 20 out of 10 we would!

Verified reviewThe room was small but charming, and very stylish. The location was incredible— you step out the door into a lively pedestrian street in Udine’s historic center. A terrific wine bar/ restaurant is on one side of the doorway, and a nice cafe on the other.

Verified reviewWe stayed in this apartment for a week in September. The overall evaluation is excellent! The apartment is located in the historical part of Undine. The better location is impossible to imagine. A lot of restaurants, pizzerias and shops are right under your windows. The room is fresh renovated and comfortable. And owner of the apartment, Michele, deserves special words of gratitude. He is very friendly and is ready to help in any time of the day. I definitely recommend this apartment for stying in Undine.

Good morning Aaron, we are really happy that you enjoyed your room. Our facility offers our guests the possibility of staying in bedrooms with large private bathrooms or very large rooms (mini apartments) also equipped with a sofa, full kitchen and a nice dining table with chairs. If you want, next time you stay with us, I recommend you choose the "Superior" room which, for a small difference in price, really offers a truly magnificent stay experience. Verified reviewLiaison with owner prior to our stay was excellent and really helpful answering all our questions. The location right in the heart of Udine was great for us. Bars, cafes and restaurants were all around us as well as all the great sights like the castle. If you are relatively fit it’s an easy walk from the train and bus station. The apartment itself had a very comfortable bed, spotless bathroom and had everything we required for a short stay. Great!

Verified reviewThis appartment suite is in the very heart of the old town in a historic building. It's spacious, comfortable, and high quality and would deserve nine of ten points, but...
... you serve as the acoustic insulation buffer between the manager in the first floor (who is quiet) and a total lunatic apartment owner on the third floor, who arrives every night between 1 and 3 am, just to walk around in his shoes, drop things and make noise for more than an hour that is completely unfiltered in lack of any insulation. So if you want to impress your girlfriend and play all night, it's a great option, but if you want to sleep, it's a total nightmare and absolutely not recommended. The other (smaller) apartment on top has direct acoustic access to the bar downstairs, entertaining you until 1 am. When complaining, the manager first offered a discount, then withdraw it, instead promised extra nights for free - which is rediculous because two more nights without sleep lack any benefit - finally he refused to alter the price or reimburse for the terrible experience. Not recommended, because this situation will never change, unless the floor above you will be evacuated, and there is no compensation for the bad experience.
Good morning Mr. Adam, I am sorry that your sleep was disturbed by the tenant on the upper floor who, by the way, is not our guest and has never caused problems for anyone before. I doubt that you heard any noises coming from the lower floor because, as if on purpose, there is my office which is very quiet. As soon as I read your email in which you complained about the noise, I immediately called the tenant on the upper floor (not our property) causing the noise to stop immediately. Even if there was no responsibility on our part towards you, I spontaneously offered you the possibility of being able to use our best room for free to make you understand that we truly care about the satisfaction of our guests regardless of everything. Your request for reimbursement, I am sorry to remind you, never reached us and, therefore, it is not correct for you to let the massage that we refused pass because it is not so. I would like to add that all our rooms were soundproofed during the renovation and as proof of this, as you can see, no one has ever complained about this reason. I repeat that I am truly sorry if you were not able to rest adequately but we cannot take on responsibilities that are not ours. My offer to reserve our best room for you is always valid for you.
