How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Some additional costs for example you only get 1 beach towel and then you have to pay to have it cleaned. Also additional breakfast costs.

Verified reviewIt was a beautiful hotel right next to the beach and beautiful inside and the rooms very comfortable. Lots of beautiful greenery and plants.
Would of been nice if the beach chairs were included, we had to pay 3 euros to change one beach towel, would of been nice that they would give us water every day and not pay for it and also not charge if ever we wanted an omelette.

Verified reviewPerfect location, great staff, free parking, excellent breakfast with many choices even for vegetarians
Parking was tight but given that many other places didn’t offer free parking on site, not a big deal. However, there was a local tax that the hotel charged and booking.com quotes taxes and fees included, which is misleading and should be corrected.

Verified reviewPros: friendly staff, hotel is located right on the beach, beautiful buildings and landscape. The rooms have air conditioning! We loved that.
Cons: breakfast is bland, the scrambled eggs were extremely watery everyday. If you want to use the beach bed they cost between 20-40€ to use, depending on which row you pick.

Verified reviewWonderful place. Great location. Amazing private beach. Liked it so much decided to book an additional night. Gym, pool, and beach made it tops in our trip. Close drive to city center to explore other eating options.
Limited menu options for children and vegetarians. Price is pretty steep, but by far the nicest place we stayed on the island.

Verified reviewIt’s paradise from the minute you walk in and receive your welcome tropical drink! The staff is professional, the Manager walks the property and stops to greet you. The property itself is decorated beautifully and they offer the local wines and cheese. They have a full bar, they had a live singer for entertainment one night and we watched from our balcony while watching the amazing sunset. The rooms are spacious with everything you need and more! A 1 minute walk to their private beach to enjoy the crystal clean water and a quiet environment with the locals. The Resturant staff for breakfast , lunch and dinner are 10 star! They are ALL kind, friendly, engaging, respectful and professional. The food is fresh and a culinary delight! The Spa that they have on property is quaint and my massage lady was friendly and accommodating ❤️
They have a local ordnance in Sardinia that will not allow bathrooms on the beach. Not the hotels fault at all, but a difficulty when you need to go, you must walk back to the hotel. The hair dryers in the room are the ones that you have to hold the button down while trying to style and dry and that is cumbersome to say the least for ladies with long hair. They could and should invest in better hair dryers as well as upgrade the soap and shampoo in the bathrooms, not up to par for this level of a hotel and the cost paid for the room.

Verified reviewMy stay at Hotel Simius was deeply disappointing, to say the least. This was my second visit to Sardinia, and after experiencing several hotels, I can confidently say that this was one of the worst I’ve stayed in. Despite indicating that we were visiting for our honeymoon, we received no special attention or upgrade. The room we were given was dirty, dusty, and had a balcony with no view and filled with insects. After insisting, they offered to move us to a temporary room for just one night until the original room was cleaned, and this offer was communicated by a staff member who couldn’t speak English. One of the hotel’s main promises is a private beach for guests, but we discovered that to actually use it, an additional fee of 90 euros per bed is required! In a hotel where we paid 2,080 euros for our stay, they also charged an extra 3 euros for cleaning beach towels, a service that other hotels provide for free. The breakfast was very poor, with almost no vegetables, and the food didn’t feel fresh. I even saw one of the waiters filling the “freshly squeezed juice” jugs from simple carton boxes, contradicting their claim that it’s freshly squeezed on-site.Regarding cleanliness, unless you place a specific note in your room, they won’t change the sheets and towels – something I’ve never encountered in other hotels. The worst part was when we approached the reception desk with complaints about the service, cleanliness, and overall experience. The responses were indifferent, with no willingness to help or understand our concerns. A hotel with such poor service is definitely not worth the price they charge guests.
Dear Mr Haj, we are really sorry that your stay was not as you expected it was. Unfortunately for you, the period of your stay was for us a high season period and it was not possible to recognize any upgrade, even by payment either as a gift. We are also really surprised to notice that you decided to put “1” as our score (considering our average of 9.1), also because with 1 we would expect that a guest leave the hotel if he/she is completely disappointed as you said you was. From our part, we take this opportunity to make some considerations: *honeymoon: it is not our habit to offer upgrades or a gift to celebrate events like this. First because some people use this strategy to receive gifts, regardless a special event, and second because we use to pamper our guest in a different way. In our experience, the best way to celebrate an event starts from booking a typology of room adequate to the circumstance. *room: The room booked was a Classic Room, rooms located in the rear side of the hotel with a balcony overlooking the back of the hotel and not the sea. We constantly receive phone calls from guests asking for characteristics of the rooms, in case of doubt. In your case, your balcony had a view (what would have been the point of having a balcony otherwise) but not the one you expected. You said you have found the room dirty and dusty and filled of insects, but we wonder why we weren’t notified promptly, and only after having completely unmade the bed and made extensive use of the facilities. *reception staff: they are all able to speak at least 2 foreigner languages (one is English). Probably you didn’t remember that the person in charge took action immediately, offering you the possibility to stay in another room, firstly, taking into account the fact that the rooms were next to each other; secondly, to avoid inconveniencing you, having to transfer your luggage which, among other things, had already been unpacked. In any case, we arranged to move to the next room for the entire duration of your stay, as per your request. Reception staff works 24 hours a day and their aim are to solve any problem or request of the guest, so it is really strange to read that in your experience “no willingness to help or understand our concerns”. *beach service: the same member of the Reception staff "who did not speak English", to whom you nevertheless turned more than once during your stay, made sure that you were aware of the fact that the beach service for guests who has B&B treatment was not included, but rather for a fee, explicitly informing you of the daily cost for the period of one parasol and two sunbeds from the third row onwards, i.e. € 45.00. In this regard, we would like to point out that the cost of € 90.00 referred to the first row and that all this information is clearly specified, also in English, both during the booking phase and in the envelope that was given to you during check-in. *breakfast, we can guarantee that all products are fresh and of excellent quality. As for orange juice, we would like to point out that we offer both the one squeezed on site and the one already bottled (that we prefer to offer into carafes, this is why you saw waiters filling them). Furthermore, we are happy to inform you that above each product served at breakfast there is its own wording also in English. *sheets: the linen is changed every day, with particular attention to the bathroom linen. Guests are aware that if the housekeepers don’t find towels on the ground change is not requested (this is a matter of less pollution, as in all the hotels) In conclusion, we are sorry for the inconvenience you have written about but we certainly don’t have the same point of view.
