How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe property is just off Saint Mark’s square, less than 50 metres from the entry. It is newly decorated and very clean. There is really good air conditioning in each room. There is an en-suite in the main bedroom. The twin room is quite large for Venice. The master bedroom is small but there is good storage space for luggage and clothes. Plenty of clean towels, and all bed linen is very clean and the whole apartment is very modern, well maintained and very clean. Beds are very comfortable. Good WiFi and a smart tv. Perfect location to see Venice

Verified reviewThe team was fabulous. Responsive and attentive. The location is fantastic and in the midst of everything. The fact the property had an elevator was also a plus. Terrace was good as well.
The air conditioning is not ideal, especially upstairs. The rooms were too hot to sleep in. The bathroom needs a do over as the shower is half broken and very old. For that price you would look for a better maintained bathroom. We also dealt with ants in the kitchen.

Verified reviewAwesome location! Very clean and Barbara ensured we had directions correctly to meet her. We had the Randa apartment and there are 3 flights of stairs but this is old San Marco and expected. Only one small bridge to cross wirh luggage. Very quiet at night.
No luggage racks which would be nice since rooms are small.

Verified reviewThe hosts were incredibly helpful, pre arrival, during arrival, during the stay and at check out. Amazing. Kind. Informative.. The apartment is perfect, location couldn’t be better. Kitchen is small and basic so you are probably going to be eating out than eating in. Clean bathroom, comfortable beds! The roof terrace is great. Apartment is on the top floor just stairs no lift (although there is a luggage lift for your suitcase / bags) no problem for us but if you would find the stairs hard work that would be the only negative of the apartment. It is otherwise brilliant and we will stay there again if we return to Venice. Thank you

I have a video of the following: Issues: - Nowhere was it advertised there are that many flights of stairs. I have a major knee issue and can tolerate some stairs but NOWWHERE was it advertised there are endless stairs. - NOWHERE is it advertised 2nd room has 2 prehistoric single mattresses joined together which slant towards the middle. They need to go in the trash. - We were not offered additional times to have the most disgusting bathroom cleaned. So unhygienic. Sickening. The whole outside of the shower is sickening. - Towel racks should not be turned off ITS NOT SUMMER yet but regardless people need to be able to dye their towels etc. - The couch. DO NOT CALL THAT PIECE OF TRASH A COUCH. Pillows are warn out and you can’t sit on it without sliding off. Straight to the trash. - 2 apartments shown in photos so you have no idea which one you are getting. Clearly we ended up with the dirty, in uncomfortable one.

Regarding the stairs, we clearly mention in our Booking listing that our apartment Randa does not have an elevator, while the other Fiocco apartment does. We always encourage guests to inquire about such details before booking, and we are always available to answer any questions. Our staff is at your full disposal, and we would have been happy to clarify any concerns beforehand. We are sorry to hear that the mattresses did not meet your expectations. However, as stated in the Booking description, there is one double bed and two single beds. If this was unclear or if there was any misunderstanding, we are sorry, but the information is clearly available for all guests to review. Regarding the bathroom, we understand that you were not satisfied with it, but when you informed us, you chose not to have our staff enter to check the situation, as you preferred to be present. We have clear written evidence of this, and we respect your decision, but we could have resolved any issues had you allowed us to assist. As for the towel heaters, you mentioned the issue at 9 PM, and a member of our team came to check immediately. We informed you that a technician would come the next morning, but you confirmed that it was not an urgent issue. Additionally, we offered you drying services at our nearby location, which you declined. Regarding the sofa, we would like to reassure you that it is in good condition, and to date, no previous guests have raised any concerns about it. We understand that the apartment may not have been the right fit for you, and we genuinely tried to accommodate your needs. We even offered you the option to leave and receive a full refund for your stay, but you declined this offer as well. Verified reviewAmazing location, literally metres from San Marco Piazza. The staff were excellent. Lots of communication, excellent English, taken care of completely with excellent communication before and during the trip. Felt taken care of. Staff met us at the piazza and took us to the accommodation and assisted with luggage. Very friendly. Highly recommend. It is on the third floor with no lift so people with mobility issues should be aware.

Verified reviewThis apartment is in a great location, very convenient to San Marco Plaza. We really enjoyed the rooftop terrace, but watch your head going up the steps. This unit does have a lot of steps but there is an elevator for one that you can use to raise and lower your bags. We had everything we needed. Francesca was there to meet us with the keys within a couple minutes of our arrival. It was easy to coordinate with her on WhatsApp. We would recommend this unit to friends traveling to Venice.
