How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewEverything was amazing. We had wonderful time there. Andrea is a very friendly person and he was very helpful for whatever we asked. I would definitely recommend this place for stay in Chinque terre and specifically in Rio Maggiore. Thank you for this amazing experience.

Verified reviewGreat location, comfy, exactly as described. I found this to be great value for money. Wouldn’t be ideal for anyone with lots of luggage as there are steep stairs to climb to get to the room (nothing major, just a note). Would 1000% recommend and will be back.
Nothing! It was great

Verified reviewStayed here for five nights with my 10 year old daughter. We appreciate the service minded host and great location. Our host Andrea gave us lots of useful local tips and even came by the room with extra towels for the beach. Always easy to connect with the host and easy to use self check in when we arrived late on our first night. We stayed in the room with the balcony, and the facilities were like in a hotel room. Would love to come back one day!

Verified reviewEverything was wonderful. Centrally located in this charming village on the Cinque Terre, the large superior room had everything we needed including a little fridge, tea/coffee facility. The bed was very comfortable and the ensuite was large with a door leading out to a little balcony. Our host was very helpful with lots of information

Verified reviewThe location is perfect. Few meters away from the beach, train station, cafes, restaurants. It was super clean and Andrea, the host was super helpful and very reachable. There’s quite some stairs to reach the room so not suitable for persons with mobility issues. Bakery just opposite the flat with the best croissants and cafe’!
Nothing…it was perfect

Verified reviewThe apartment is really nice, it had all the necessities and the host was really nice and happy to help with everything. The stairs were not really a problem for us, especially if you came to Cinque Terre for tracking.

Verified reviewAmazing location, right in the centre of Riomaggiore and five min walk to the station. Very clean and beautiful room. The check-in and check-out was really smooth. Andrea, the host, was very informative and gave us very good recommendations about exploring Cinque Terre! Overall, a great stay.

Verified reviewLocation is great. Short walk from train station and then not far from the trails. The room is small but comfortable and has tea/coffee facilities. Andrea was so sweet, accommodating and helpful!
Shower is tiny but worked well so no real worries! Three flights of stairs to the room which I suspect is normal in Cinque Terre. Again no problem!!

Nothing, except my suite was 54 steps up, LOL, lots of walking aup and down hill and many steps to navigate in this scenic village...

Verified reviewGood emplacement, staff very nice and helpful. Riomaggiore is a fabulous village to explore the 5 terre. Train station just a few steps away. Close to Via d'ell amore so magical for sunset !
We had 2 rooms booked (as the price difference was just 5 € we thought the difference can't be huge) but it was. one room (beige) very nice furbished, big with closable bathroom and in good condition also more quiet - looked almost new. the other one (blue) was small (that is no problem) street orientated and dated but most sadly so LOUD as there is a bar just below with very loud people and music. And you can't close the bathroom door - that is very un-confortable if you travel with friends. Also there is no window in the bathroom for air.... Of course you have to keep in mind that the location is in heart of Riomaggiore. An information about the orientation in the description of the rooms would have been helpful we would have decided differently !!!! (I saw a lot of negative comments about the stairs in the building. Its true there are many stairs... everywhere many stairs in this region... But is this not the charme of the 5 terre and reason to visit? People should keep this in mind. If you can't walk stairs - this isn't the place to be for you. )

It's worth the walk up the stairs- but don't attempt if you have mobility issues.

Verified reviewVery clean apartment right in the center not far from the train station. Checkin was easy and the host, Andrea, was helpful with info about the area and things to see.
Like everywhere else in the town, the room was up 3 flights of steep stairs. But that is likely true of most places to stay in town.

Not the property’s fault but can sometimes be loud outside although the double panes windows filter out most noise.
