How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat hotel right on the beach which was lovely. Hotel was spotlessly clean and buffet breakfast was really nice. Car parking available in the convenient location under the hotel. Linda was really helpful when dealing with an issue with car parking, she got our problem resolved when others didn't!
We wanted to say an extra two nights, so asked the hotels reception if this would be possible. We were told our room would be available so wanted to book the extra days. Reception said there wasn't a manager on site that day so they would let us know when manager was next in. The following day we asked again and we were told the manager would let us know, which they didn't and was disappointing! We found another hotel for the extra two nights! So the RS lost an extra two nights money due to poor communication with its guests. We found some staff very helpful but others not so helpful or not really interested in our problem with moving our car for parking. On our last morning at breakfast we wernt even given a table (all tables have your name on) and were told to sit out on the balcony with all the smokers, lovely!

Verified reviewThe hotel was very nicely located in front of the beach, and the view from the rooms was nice. The food was tasty and varied, we (including our 3 year old) always found something to eat, and most of the times had more than a few dishes we loved. The hotel was very clean overall, and the cleaning staff was amazing! Our room would be cleaned while we were down for breakfast and always to a really high standard. Most of the staff was really nice. All in all - good value for money, nice location, tasty food.
Starting with small nits first which are mostly FYI: - The all inclusive is more of “full board with wine”. There were no other drinks included, not even beer. The wine selection was good though - red, rose and white, sparkling or plain. - The beach chairs included are on the last rows of beach, where you literally cannot see the sea at all. If you care about it, you can pay for an upgrade, but for us it took a lot of back and forth because we don’t speak Italian and it was a busy period. And then comes the reason for my low score: the parking is a disaster! They have this setup where there are 2 rows of cars, one blocking each other. Technically, the car blocking should leave the keys at the reception, but.. Two times we wanted to take the car out, and both times: 1) they didn’t have the key of the other car 2) the person who was supposed to move the car wasn’t immediately available. The first time we weren’t in such a rush so we didn’t mind it so much, but the second time we wanted to check out and we wasted almost 2h getting the car out. In the end, they still hadn’t even reached the person - we took the car out by maneuvering off the back through a narrow pedestrian passage, with both mirrors closed because that’s the only way we’d fit. Extremely stressful, took 30 mins total, and at the end the reception lady was still the one yelling at us for parking the car in another parking spot for <30m while we took the rest of the luggage and our child. I never got so angry on a vacation before as I did in this last day checking out. Don’t go here if you go by car and enjoy going places or simply want the freedom of going and coming as you’d like. You might not get it! It’s a shame really, considering all the positive aspects of our stay.

Verified reviewLocation Easy access to the train station Gatteo A Mare and well connected to Ravenna, Bologna and Imola. All amenities were available in the hotel and nearby
I didn't like that when I booked the hotel I booked because of the picture you show of the hotel Spiaggia in Booking.com but is not the right hotel as you mislead the customer making them think that when booking Hotel Royal - Spiaggia it will be the one from the picture and it is not. Until I was at the hotel Spiaggia I was informed that there are two hotels under the same company. One is the hotel Royal and the second hotel and the modern one Spiaggia. I was not given a room in the Spiaggia hotel but in the Royal which the rooms require an update as the decoration seems to be from 1970 - 1980. The picture you show of Spiaggia hotel on the booking.com. website is not the same old style Royal hotel. I booked with you thinking I will be staying at the Spiaggia hotel. This was a shock to me and my husband, as according to what we booked we have booked a room at the Spiaggia hotel and we did not get it, instead we were accommodated in the Royal Hotel and then we were informed by the receptionist that it was the same group hotel, but actually it is not the same. Royal is an old style hotel whilst the Spiaggia is a modern one where the breakfast and dinner were served. I believe showing a lovely picture of the Spiaggia hotel as a principal hotel and making the customers think that we have booked a room at the modern hotel when it is not, is very unprofessional and cheap. All the pictures you have on the page of Booking.com are from Spiaggia hotel and there is not an explanation about the Royal hotel and its rooms prior making the booking. This was a very disappointing moment, as I booked the Spiaggia hotel as part of a present to my husband's birthday. I will think twice about using booking.com in the future.

Verified reviewThe hotel was in a great position. It was right on the beach in the centre of everything. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The guest lounge was comfortable and airy with an outdoor terrace and balcony overlooking the main Street great for a drink and people watching It had a roomy dining room offering buffet dining, including wine water and soft drinks at dinner. It had a vast choice of food. Soups, pastas mains including meat fish vegetables. Salad bar antipastas cheese bread and dessert. Even their own gelsto counter. The old fashioned all you can eat and drink at 1 price. We'll staffed and run.

Verified reviewWe had buffet breakfast included in the price, it was excellent, plenty. It lasted us for the whole day, we only had dinner afterward. Once we tried buffet dinner as well, it was actually the cheapest option for a family of four, it was 19 Euros per person, the cuisine was international, and if we went anywhere else in the area, we paid more than 76 Euros. They offered rosé too, so even alcohol was included and they served a kind of punch too. The rooms had bidets, shutters, and A/C so we had a good night's sleep all the time. There is room service every day, they also clean up, it was nice. Once they noticed that we used the pillow from the extra bed and left us another pillow too. The staff are nice, few of them speak really good English, but once you find your go-to people, you are fine. Mostly Italian families and retirees take their vacations there, we hardly heard other languages. Most vacationers have their dinner in their own hotels, in the area there are lots of bars, cafés and icecream places but fewer restaurants. We could use the pool and jacuzzi at the hotel next door, make sure you ask about that possibility.
Pillows were too soft and thin, we needed two of them. There is a man-made rock barrier along the coast, I guess, for protection, which is nice, but I missed the huge waves. You don't belong to the bathing zone in front of your hotel, which fact we were not aware of until the last day. Every hotel is assigned a kind of bathing zone and color-coded umbrellas, and this is where you can book one for the day ( 25 Euros)

Verified reviewThe location is incredible and the architecture - all rooms have a sea view. The staff is very friendly, helpful, smiling! The chef is a big master! For a week, they did not repeat a single dish! The beach is very well organised and clean!

Verified reviewVery nice and helpful staff, good food & service at the restaurant, delicious coffee at the hotel bar. The kids playing room was perfect when it was raining outside. The room had a panoramic view and we enjoyed watching the sea while lying in bed so much! Car park straight behind the hotel and the gratis bicycle rental was great. We enjoyed 5 days there and felt very comfortable and welcomed by the hotel staff. Location is just 50m from the beach and the hotel is very clean!
Dinner starting at 7:15pm was a bit late for the small kids.
