How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewPerfect location, more then perfect room size. Is on of the best cheap accomodation in Rome. Booking via third party is usually much more cheaper. Restaurants nearby are good.

Verified reviewThe room is bigger than we expected, there was everything we needed. Host thought on every small detail what a person would need for good stay. Very clean and beautiful room in very beautiful building with amazing garden. Also the area is good, 8-10 minutes walking from Vatican Museum. Grocery Shops, bakeries are very near, also some very good restaurants. The place and host just made our stay in Rome so much better.

Verified reviewVery big, cozy and clean room. Very big and comfortable bed. The room has a wardrobe and a refrigerator, the bathroom is also very spacious. The hosts are incredibly friendly and caring, shared useful recommendations for various places and restaurants. Really nice and sweet people! The location is excellent - near the Vatican, in a very beautiful and safe area, but at the same time with many cafes, restaurants and shops around. It's a 7 minute walk to the metro, very convenient. Highly recommend!

No heating in the room so we had to stay all the time covered with blankets in bed . Bathroom and rest of the room were freezing
We sincerely want guests to come, enjoy the eternal city of Rome and enjoy our place. Lydia and Tomas are very nice people but I have to mention that this review is objectively inaccurate. There was heat in the room and it was not freezing. It was 20 degrees out. The guests that stayed in the suite before them told us more than once that everything was perfect. The couple that arrived 5 hours after they left said it was very pleasant and there was certainly no need for heat. There was a couple in the suite next to theirs who came from a very warm country and they left us a box of chocolates and a note thanking us for providing a perfect place to stay. They slept with the windows open. During Lidia's stay there were 9 other people in that wing of the apt. All those people did not find it cold, let alone freezing. We are of course, very sorry that Lydia and Tomas were uncomfortable.

Verified reviewThe best choice for our holidays in Rome. The house is situated at a very good and safe place, very close to the metro station and bus stations. The Vatican is only 5-minute walk from the house. Many cafés, ice-cream shops and restaurants or trattorias are also found around the corner. The hosts, Mike and Mrs. Sylvana answered to our questions before our journey. Their welcome was very warm and every day they were willing to give us information for anything we needed about traveling around Rome, restaurants etc. The room and the bathroom were very clean and comfortable and the internet connection was fast. The house and the family will be in our minds, as a part of our vacation in Rome and the good days we had while we stayed there.
MAMMA MIA WHAT A BEAUTIFUL REVIEW!!!Gracious, interesting, kind, fun people, we were sorry they had to leave. The place seemed empty and dull without them. THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY MUCH for all the 10s and the 10 overall. No one can ask us why our average is falling! Rome is a big city and she is a tiny feminine lady with an angelic pretty face but I knew no one with bad intentions would mess with them. She would have sent them running. Her husband agreed me!!!They were also full of good cheer and energy. They were here for 5 days and they did not look at all tried at the end of their vacation. A truly remarkable couple! We were lucky to have them!

Verified reviewWe liked the location, really near Vatican and metro station. Hosts were great, we had good communication. The apartment is really nice and cozy, everything is new and nicely decorated. We would definitely recommend it!
There was a problem with cleanliness as we arrived but hosts were really invested into helping us and fixing it as it wasn't their fault.
Thank you very much. We are mortified about the cleanliness issue and so is our lead cleaning lady. She got to the bottom of the problem and it turns out that the cleaning lady that was training decided to take a long lunch break in the Sistina suite. None of us checked over the suite before your arrival. If we had any idea of what had happened we would have requested permission to go into the suite when you guys were out and we would cleaned it for a 2nd time and made sure it met our usual standards. Thank you very much for bringing it to our attention and thank you very much for all the 10s in all the other categories!!!

Friendly owners, good in contact and easy to ask questions via whatsapp.. Rooms are clean and plenty of space. Comfy beds. Shower was not as expected. Low pressure and not really hot. However still ok for a few days.
