How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was amazing. Besides being walking distance to all the places of interest and main shopping streets, there's a bus stop right in front of the property and the metro is just a few meters away which is very convenient. Not to mention the awesome view of the Vittoriano and Piazza Venezia. It was also very clean. Claro, who was very helpful, asked us when we would like our room to be cleaned. We said every other day which was enough for us but if we had said every day, I'm sure he would have complied to our request. Last but definitely not least I have to mention Maurizio who, although we never got to meet, was always there to help through messages which he answered at once, complying with our requests as necessary.
Rather than things we didn't like, it's more about things that could upgrade the property like a small kettle and a few teabags + small packs of sugar and milk pods. There was just a coffee machine. I don't like coffee and I love a cup of tea when I wake up in the morning. I know that Italians do not normally have tea, but your guests are normally foreigners. Another thing is breakfast. It was adequate of course and enough to keep you going for the whole morning but a few more choices like cereals or perhaps a cooked breakfast would be lovely. Other than that everything was perfect.

Verified reviewThe location is excellent. From the windows of the apartment, we can enjoy the gorgeous views of Piazza Venicia, Cathedral St. Maria and Capitol Hill. We can walk to almost everywhere. There are lots of restaurants and shops around. The staff is very helpful, providing very clear information. We did check in and out without any difficulty. The decorations is classical.
It can be a bit noisy at night, because the bus stops are just in front of the house. But I have no problem with sleeping.

Verified reviewThe apartment itself is quite large and perfect for our family of 2 parents + 1 young adult. And did I mention the A/C in the middle of a Roman heat wave? AMAZING!! The location was superb, and breakfast was fabulous and served at a café two doors down.
We had to wait outside the apartment door with all our belongings for about 30 minutes while we waited for the check-in person to arrive. We previously communicated our approximate arrival time. That was a little rough after an overnight flight. But other than that...it was fantastic!

I thought the large bed was a zip and link but it wasn't. Would have been great if it could have been made into two single beds. As we tossed a coin to who was having the bed in the living room.

Verified reviewGreat location in Rome. Most of the major attractions are an easy walk. Check in was easy. There is an elevator. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. Rooms are large and easily accommodated 3 adults. Breakfast was at a bar just down the street and it was good. Good coffee, pastry, fresh OJ and fruit. Easy access from Rome Termini train station by bus, taxi or even walking. Simple trip to the airport using Uber. Massimiliano quickly responded to our questions.
No major issues. It is on a busy piazza so it is a bit noisy but the high quality windows helped. Some of the shades/window coverings need to be fixed or replaced. The bathroom has a tub with a hand held shower which was functional but not ideal. A regular shower would have been preferred.

Verified reviewGreat location and great welcome host. Good response when power went off. The rooms were large and roomy.
Beds for sleep were dated and not as comfortable as a 3 star or higher hotel. Tv controls either didn’t work or were no explained better. The bathroom was dated and the shower only had a bathtub with a small hand held spray and very difficult to use or shower off.

Verified reviewThe accommodation was amazing, the owner was helpful, interested, kind, allowed early check-in. The most beautiful accommodation in the city we have ever been to, you are literally part of living Rome. The view is incredible. Plus, there is a bus stop at the accommodation. An elevator is available for people with mobility problems. Perfect, we will definitely be back.
