Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe hotel feels like it was a bit past it's prime and could do with some small clean-up/renovation. The breakfast was in the cafe next door and was quite limited, croissant and coffee

United StatesThe elevator was small, and we had to wait a couple of cycles as other people were also waiting to use the elevator. Staff was not overly friendly.
The property had a great location. We were able to walk from the train station to the hotel. The rooms were clean and recently renovated. The property had an elevator. Bathroom was a good size and a nice comfortable bed We felt safe in the property as there was a 24 hour door person. We also had a small balcony which was nice to open and look out.

United KingdomRoom was very small and the shower space was limited. The kitchen was out of order so breakfast was taken at the cafe next door, which was very poor. No toast or brioche and poor coffee options.
Location was excellent, very near Garibaldi Plazza. Staff, particularly Orlando and Simon were friendly and helpful, could not have been better.

United KingdomSimone the Receptionist was exceptionally helpful, professional and kind. In this day and age it is such a pleasure to find such good customer service. The location of the hotel is excellent and very close to Spaccanapoli filled with atmosphere and plenty of restaurants and plenty of places of interest to visit.

United KingdomNo form of milk/powedered creamer for tea/coffee. The shower was long and thin, which isn't great for a larger person, but it did the job.
I had a nice double bed in a single room with a small balcony. Great to have air conditioning and tea/coffee making facilities. The young man on reception was extremely helpful for which I was very grateful.

United StatesIn-hotel breakfast is temporarily unavailable due to maintenance/upgrades but we received vouchers for a cafe/bar just down the street.
Second visit to Hotel Ares in a year --> almost like returning home. Simone and Orlando was as gracious and helpful as always. Hotel location is exceptional --> we walked almost everywhere we wanted to visit. Equally accessible to Napoli Centrale train station and Naples subway (Duomo station.)

GermanyOne has to keep in mind that the hotel is on a large street with much traffic (also in the evening). However - I guess if someone wants to have a hotel room in the city centre - thats how it is (and insofar this is not really a contra).
We came with the ferry from Ischia and our walk to the hotel led us through some unsightly streets of the harbour district - and we started to become a bit sceptical. But, arriving at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised (area seemed to us save). The hotel looked beautiful. It's a very small hotel (from the building, but also only 3 or 4 rooms per floor), everything super clean, the interior design pleasant (depends on individual taste). So we were very happy. The receptionists were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very central, nearly in the historic city centre and not far away from the main train station. The breakfast had a rich choice - even whole grain croissants. Some short remark: I had a room with a small balcony (with a view on a small place and church). That offered enough place. The room of my travelling companion was much smaller - so I recommend the bigger room with balcony (even if it is more, but not much expensive). All in all: best value for money.

United KingdomThe area is quite noisy, being so close to one of the busiest, main arteries and the rooms are a little more outdated than it shows in the pictures.
The location is great to walk to the Old town and the turisy parts. Reception staff was super nice at every step.

NetherlandsSome small things: bed is a little soft for my taste. Shower area is a little small (water pressure and temperature are good though). Room is not that big. It is an older hotel and interior but it is clean and robust so I think it is charming. Again: I had a pleasant 6 night stay.
Great location: 15 min walk to Napoli Centrale or 7 min walk to subway station Duomo. Nice staff at the reception and at the breakfast buffet. Breakfast is just okay. Wifi is great. Plenty quiet for a good sleep. Coffee and tea in the room. Fantastic aircon unit (which I needed, even in October). Little balcony with nice view from the 3rd floor. Overall I had a pleasant 6 night stay and I think the price is right for what you get.

AustraliaI didn't know what to expect in Napoli really. The location is close to the old part of the city and Spanish quarters which is charming but also it a place where there is lots of graffiti and rubbish. Not around the hotel just the surrounding areas. It was surprising for me.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful, they told me what I can see in the local area and always greeted me with a smile.
