How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe hotel was in a great location and was an excellent size. The shower was lovely and the bathroom was an excellent size. The kettle and tea making items was appreciated.
The check in was complicated, no personal service. The room was dark as the window was blocked so no light came in and the window could not be opened. The bed was very uncomfortable. Several light globes were broken.
Dear Sir, you showed up at the facility outside of check-in hours but we took care of welcoming you. The room does not have roller shutters but blinds that you were unable to open due to the late hour, as well as the lights in the room that you did not understand how to turn on, attributing the responsibility to us.

Verified reviewThe staff is very nice and welcoming. They prepared the breakfast as we wished, helped iron the clothes and wash, and gave us extra time to check out on our last day.
The only problem was that the lift did not work! We did not know that before we came, and we had three suitcases, 23kg each, and three trollies, 10kg each, so we had to lift them up the stairs by ourselves. The stairs are very tight, and it is floor 2. It was not comfortable at all and very hard. Also, we were three people, and there was only one key for the door.
Dear Madam, if you had only read carefully you would have known in advance that the structure does not have a lift but the apartment is located on the first floor. I also remind you that our staff washed and ironed your linen but you did not want to pay for the service.

The breakfast was just a croissant with bad coffee. The staff didn’t replay on our questions. The air conditioner was good when you was down stairs but it was hot as hell up in the bedroom.
Dear lady, I apologize for your review which does not correspond to the truth. Our breakfast is both Italian and international but you only requested cappuccino and croissant. For what reason would we have given you a different breakfast from the one ordered considering that breakfast is our strong point? He tells me that we haven't answered his questions, perhaps because we haven't received any? How did you do them? What communication system did you use? You stayed in the facility with external temperatures of 42 degrees, therefore it is normal that the air conditioners struggled to cool. Finally, I would like to point out the incorrectness and rudeness in expelling the staff from the room because you didn't want the cleaning to be done. Verified reviewFantastic location right in the heart of Taranto. Really nicely decorated. Host was very nice & welcoming. Close to old Taranto. Breakfast was delicious. Croissants, ham & cheese sandwiches, juice, cappuccino & Americana coffee.
There was no view. I found it a little claustrophobic. The bedroom is upstairs & bathroom downstairs which the stairs are quite narrow & not very deep. Definitely not for children.

Verified reviewThe location was perfect and also checkin process.Breakfast good enough with capucinno, croissant , toast and juice brought from a near appartment.Bed was confortable with clean sheets and the architecture on 2 levels was for sure somerthing to remember.
A lot of dust and dirt in The appartment,The draining system noisy, furniture old and dirty .For sure a repainting and general cleaning is needed.
Dear Madam, Thank you for your review but I have to make some necessary clarifications. Our structure is completely new since it was built only 4 years ago with complete renovation and new furniture. Furthermore, every 3 months the structure closes to repaint it but during the Christmas period with a large flow of guests it is inevitable to observe a few more stains on the furniture and on the walls. But this does not mean that the structure is dirty, as indicated by the reviews of our guests who rate the cleanliness of our rooms 9.2
