How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewthe hotel was a lovely looking hotel and the breakfast was mostly very good except for the three hot items available only being hot when they were first put in no heating of it.
Very disappointed, booked a superior double with city view, go a large double with a view of the backs of the surrounding hotels, when we complained they said this is a city that's what you see in the city and said the standard rooms just had a skylight and dismissed us our view was terrible and NOT the room shown on your site very very disappointed, started our stay with two small sachets of shower gel, used the first day never replaced, the shower didn't even have a ledge to put the tiny shower gel packs on and every time you opened the shower doors they fell off the rails. The picture above is of the spa Jacuzzi, when we asked can we use it we were told no it just to look at! there's a roof terrace advertised with sun loungers this we were told was not accessible to guests, we were told it was closed, we asked about the pool for 90 minutes they wanted 30 euros each.... there is a roof top bar not open, there is bar in the lobby... not open, the first morning we went for breakfast the maid that went into our room to clean arrived in the breakfast area serving food and drinks still wearing the apron she had on cleaning the room. for a hotel this size here were very few staff, seemed to be being run on a shoestring, hence nothing being open, the jacuzzi had an inch of scum up the side above the water, the gym was a joke, the front of house staff seemed to be stuck to their chairs and the computer directly in front of their faces, when i asked about the minibar i was told he didn't sort the minibar its the barman's job in the mornings, the minibar didn't contain many of the items on the minibar price list, the whole thing came across as were in a great position so that's it. one final note WE DID NOT as it says REQUEST A QUIET ROOM. I WOULD NOT RETURN! the term 'fir coat and no underwear' comes to mind.

Verified reviewGreat location, terrace views, good size room, breakfast
I was very disappointed they promoted the spa upon arrival I used the small pool in the spa. They charged me €40 to use the spa!! We paid €50/per person in a double room and €40 for the pool !! This is unacceptable.

Verified reviewHotel has an excellent location close to lively bars, restaurants and main tourist sites. Room was large, comfy and clean. Downsides for us, limited storage for 5 night stay, no tea and coffee facilities and no bar open during our 5 night stay. Access to pool was 70 Euros for two people for 90 minutes.

Verified reviewBreakfast and location were great. The rooms were cleaned daily.
Little disappointed that the pool was an extra charge which we weren’t informed of at check in and the rooftop jacuzzi was just for looks and the fitness centre was tiny and most of the equipment was broken and no remote for aircon. Either have a functioning fitness centre or not one at all.

Verified reviewLocation, right beside chiesa Santa chiara and the main square. It is very close to the major attractions and quality restaurants.
One has to pay 25euro to access the pool and spa facility. The shower drainage in 103 doesn't drain promptly.

I found one member of staff to be particularly unhelpful and downright rude with a simple enquiry.

Verified reviewThe location is fantastic, right in the historic centre of Lecce. Breakfast is located on the roof terrace, overlooking the city. Rooms are a little dark, but overall made in a classic style.
Nothing :)

Verified reviewLocated in centre of the old town
The Suite Santa Chiara Hotel is not what it suggests in the photos and it is certainly not a 4 star hotel. Our bedroom was old & shabby, and very small with barely any space to put two suitcases. The Duvet cover was filthy and the bedsheet underneath it had holes in it. There was mould on the walls in the room & bathroom. Main overhead shower wouldnt work, only the hose shower. The drainage was blocked and water pooled around feet while showering. Noise from 6.30am every morning and when the cleaners start they certainly dont make any effort to be quiet. They can be heard talking & laughing and banging buckets etc around outside rooms. There was a constant humming noise heard in our room at night, no idea what it was. It was possibly coming from a generator outside. Either way we did not have good sleeps while staying here. There is no secure wifi available in the bedroom, it was only accessible in lobby. We only had unsecure wifi to use in the room. There is a small swimming pool and Spa in this hotel, none of which were available for use. They clearly use the photos as false advertising. The ‘gym’ is 4 machines on top of each other in a tiny room which barely allows for 1 person at a time. Breakfast was average, though the lady working in the breakfast room was friendly. Reception staff could do with some training.
