How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location is ideal—close to everything you might need. The room was spotless and very comfortable. What made the experience truly special was the hospitality. Giancarlo, the owner, was incredibly welcoming and went out of his way to offer recommendations for places to visit and eat. He also made himself available for any other suggestions. You can tell he truly cares about his guests. Breakfast was great—we could even choose our cornetto for the next morning! I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay again!

Verified reviewThe room was nice size and clean. The shower was a great size. Overall, nice B&B, I would stay again and recommend to family and friends. The owner Giancarlo was pleasant and welcoming. He even helped us carry our luggage from the taxi to the room upstairs. Opposite the beach and 10 minutes walk to the port (ferry) to Malta

Verified reviewAcross the street from the beach, and walking distance to the ferry (long walk). Room was spacious and clean.
Description said all rooms had a view, but our view was mainly of parked cars on the street. However we did not spend a lot of time in the room. Some street noise at night. We did not find any good restaurants or gelato within walking distance.

About the distance is only 7 minutes walk the port from the hotel, the room when you booking you have look good before you booking online witch tipe of the room you have booking, and about the restaurant you can just ask to us there are four restaurants in 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 7 minutes, and 12 minutes far from the hotel you have just ask to us and we can suggest you what you want very easy. Despite the host indicating via a message well in advance that a late checkout was ‘no problem’, staff would not agree unless 60 Euros cash was paid. After raising this with the host, only 30 minutes extra was provided. It was an extremely hot day and no aircon was provided in the waiting area.
Dear Joanne You want stay till 7pm the day of your checkout, and of course you have pay because is like another day you stay in the hotel and after you leave at 7pm is too late for rent again a room and I don’t have person that time to come for clean the room I tell you to pay 60 in cash because the poss don’t work and because I make you a big discount for another day and I don’t want to pay another full day, really you have appreciate this but now you talk about this in negative. You want a room till 7pm for free but this for me it’s not a game but is my job and I repeat again of course you have pay another day. You can ask in all hotel in the world if give you a room all day for free and tell me what the hotels say. Anyway have a wonderful holiday. Best regard Giancarlo

Verified reviewI was staying one night before catching the ferry to Malta. It was the perfect location; the staff were extremely friendly, the room was spacious and had a balcony, allowing me to sit out in the sun for a while. Parking right out the front, so it was a great location.

Verified reviewWow loved this place. Start off the hosts were super friendly. Place is opposite the beach. We arrived on a Sunday and there was basically nothing open until around 5 when a few restaurants started to open. No supermarkets ect open. It’s a very quiet sort of town near the ferry to Malta. We had a nice room with a big deck looking towards the beach. Very nicely furnished. Breakfast was really nice with more than enough options. Walking distance to town and the ferry. Recommended.

Verified reviewIt was an exceptional 2 days. Pity that due to work could not remain more. Terrazze sul Mare is a home away from home. Very near the sea port, just a 10 mins walk, having b'fast across the street from the beach is fantastic. Host Giancarlo ensures that you enjoy your b'fast and ensures that you feel at home. It's very clean and silent. Also it's just another 15 minute relaxed walk up to the square where you can have a nice leasurely stroll on the bridge leading to a lovely sandy beach.

Verified reviewThis little gem was like home away from home. Giancarlo is an amazing host and quickly became a friend. Rooms are not huge but provide all the necessary comforts required for a pleasant stay. Our terrace was nice and big and was overlooking the beach. Breakfast was fresh and the croissants were huge. The location was great with plenty of parking. There's a cute little creperie across the street and you can easily walk to town. I would go back anytime and would recommend to anyone. If you are looking for 5 star luxury, this is not a luxury resort. It is a clean, friendly and accommodating B & B with fabulous service.
