How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe person who served us was offensive; I didn't like her mocking tone of voice. It's not proper customer service. We all deserve respect, regardless of our race, skin color, or language.

Verified reviewI really liked this accommodation, it had an amazing location, only a few minutes from Termini station or the closest metro stop. From there, it was possible to get to the city centre easily. The room itself was very nice and clean. I especially appreciated the warm welcome from the staff, who was super fun and nice. He told us many tips about Rome, which was really helpful.
The only small minus was that the fridge and coffee maker in our room did not work.

Verified reviewGreat location, very clean room
The hotel was split over 2 locations, which was unexpected. Our room was in a separate location to the reception and there was no reception located near our room, which made me wonder about security. It was more just like an Airbnb.

Verified reviewRoom is exactly as it is on pictures, and it has a wonderful balcony! Stuff is very friendly, it was a pleasure nearing them every day The area feels safe, although railway station is close Also our room was ready, so I was able to check in at 10. Thanks a lot!
Unfortunately, you can hear everything behind the door AC is very loud (but at least there is in which is not typical for Rome) Reception area feels a bit “tired” — when I saw it got scared smth would be wrong with room (but the room was good, so it was a wrong impression in the end)

Verified reviewlocation on pleats
Unfortunately, there was a noticeable lack of basic equipment, including glasses, which was a bit inconvenient during everyday use. It would be worth supplementing this to make the stay even more comfortable. Apart from that, everything was fine.

We checked in and instantly did not like the vibe at all. Was hard to get into the building , Luckily a reception lady was coming out with another hotel guest at the same time. Communication was very very average and a bit rude. Didn’t help us with the lift for our luggage and kept walking off. Our room absolutely STANK of cigarette smoke I instantly felt sick and claustrophobic. I also didn’t realise the private bathroom meant waking down a public hallway to get to the shower and toilet with our key. This was an absolute no from me. I did not expect my bathroom to be in a public walking space - even though it was a bathroom only for me. Using a key to unlock and lock is not practical. We lasted less than an hour here, checked out and booked the Moderna hotel. Including city tax I paid a total of $215 AUD WHICH IS $120 euro. That is a huge rip off and way too overpriced for what we had. Room was hot, 3rd floor was a lot of stairs. Feels sort of like a prison / hostel. Not a good vibe at all, really wish I hadn’t wasted so much money.

Verified reviewClose to Termini station but had the feel of a neighborhood. There was a kitchen and washing machine and our room was part of a complex of apartments with a little courtyard (but no chairs to sit outside).
This is a room for 3 people. My friend and her son slept in the loft double bed which they reported was not comfortable. My daughter and I slept downstairs where there was a single bed. We were given a single roll away bed which was a thin mattress over wooden slats. The second night my daughter and I slept in the single bed together but that mattress was very hard. The 3rd and 4th night we put the roll away mattress on the single bed which was still uncomfortable. If it wasn't for the poor beds It would have been fine. If you plan to cook just know that things are very cramped in the kitchen. I know not to expect American sized space or comfort in Europe but I've never had such poor sleeping arrangements in any of my many trips to European countries. And the shower cannot accommodate 2 showers without the second person having cold water half way through

Nothing negative

Verified reviewIt's well located; they clean daily, which is great. It's near the bus station and the tram, and you can even walk to many places. There is an elevator for the bags, which is excellent. There are supermarkets near, and it's a safe area. There is a mini fridge and a coffee maker. They were very attentive in case we needed extra towels or toiletries, which we appreciated. The shower is great too.
Many of the bad reviews are because of miscommunication with the staff, and I agree it could definitely be improved. Given that there is not a person at the desk all day, you're at the expense of them eventually reading your messages, but then you might need to wait for them to go and let you in. Even if you arrive within the normal check-in time, you need to let them know in advance exactly what time you're arriving. In my case they tried calling me, but I didn't have a sim from the EU and they don't use whatsapp so I had to wait outside about an hour. They did try to reach me, but in my opinion they should improve their check in process in general by either having someone at the desk during the whole normal check in time, or allowing for self check in. Other than that, the room was a lot smaller than I expected from the pictures, which I guess is normal for a budget stay in the city center, just take it into account.
