How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThey were very flexible with the check-in times as the place was empty. The place is very comfortable, new, well-designed and has amazing views. The landlord put up a hammock for our 3-year-old kid, which was really nice. You do need to take a car to go everywhere but everything its literally 3 minutes away and there is no parking issues (you do need to pay).
They don't allow you to use the heating in November (there is a law about this, that no one seemed to care in the rest of the places we stayed, but OK, legally you cannot use it, not the landlord's fault) but then, if you are cold they also don't allow you to use the fire place! I literally texted asking for some heating as our 3 years old was cold (as well as me, pregnant) They charge you 8 euros for using the washing machine, 10 euros per day for using the aircon and in November they don't give you shampoo nor body wash in the bathroom, so if you arrive late or wanting to shower... just water!
Good morning, I read your evaluation of our holiday home with surprise and bitterness. Unfortunately we are not the ones who make the laws, but we must respect them. In Italy, and perhaps you should have informed yourself, it is not possible to turn on the heating until November 1st. His holiday was in October, not November and he found the temperature in the house to be 22°C. I informed her that even with the heating on, by law, the temperature in the house could not exceed 19°C. Obviously I wasn't clear enough. The laundry service, as specified, is not included. We offer it for a fee of €8 for a complete washing machine and dryer cycle. Over 4 hours of electricity plus water, detergent, etc. The coin-operated laundromat has a higher cost. I'm sorry to have to say it but the lady's opinion contrasts with those of dozens of other guests of this facility. Are they the ones who didn't understand anything?

Verified reviewThis place is impeccably clean, beautifully decorated with a very well appointed kitchen. It is a walkable distance to Montepulciano but we appreciated having a car to drive to the parking lot just outside Montepulciano. The view from the patio at this home was wonderful. The beds very comfortable. The linens/towels clean and newWe loved our stay and would return without hesitation.

Verified review- QUIET - was extremely quiet. - Had everything anyone could want. - The rental’s property was amazing!, they have flowers/roses, just a beautiful property with an outside seating area, just beautiful and peaceful! - Very Clean! - Host was excellent with communication, kept in contact to offer tips for the area. We could tell they were really trying to “check all the boxes”, and they did!
The property’s location was great for using as a base. You need to drive to restaurants, etc. or walk up the hill. Don’t use Google to get to then property. It’s messed up.

Verified reviewLocation had a beautiful view, amenities were perfect and very clean. Only minor issue, the beds were very hard and pillows were flat. Beyond that the house was well stocked with supplies to make us feel right at home. Be prepared to walk 1 mile up hill to get to the center of the city. We didn't mind and coming home was quick. Convenient grocery store within walking distance.
