How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Verified reviewNeighborhood looks unsafe and loud because of refugee village in front of, is no balcony like normal balcony, no air-conditioning, everything very old, completely uncomfortable bed, bathroom for 3 rooms is too much, no any breakfast, just one coffee capsule per pers/day and old cornflakes and ATTENTION! She collects passport data trough WhatsApp and payment of city tax( twice higher than booked) and damage deposit of 30 trough unsafe and non-autorised platform! I didn't want to pay with my card trough that link from WhatsApp, paid with PayPal so commission when 30 euro back was 30 percent!! Look at that LIST of RULLES on photo!
Dear guest, thank you for your feedback, even if we feel the need to clarify some important points for future travelers: The property is located in a safe residential area, regularly listed and approved on Booking, and we have never had security issues. The balcony and the furnishing are exactly as shown in the official photos of the listing, nothing different is presented. Air-conditioning is not listed among the amenities, so guests book being aware of that. The bathroom is clearly described as shared, and this condition is also visible before booking. Breakfast is not included in the reservation; however, we kindly provide coffee and some packaged food as a small courtesy. Collecting ID data is required by Italian law for all accommodations, and we use WhatsApp only to facilitate communication with guests. The city tax is applied according to the official municipal regulations of Perugia and corresponds to €1.50 per person per night. The refundable deposit of €30 is collected only as a guarantee for possible damages. It is always returned after check-out, minus eventual payment platform fees depending on the chosen method by the guest. It is impossible to use 3 apartments with 1 bathroom. The bed was uncomfortable because it had 2 mattresses joined together, so it was impossible to comfortably sleep😔 The apartment wasn't properly cleaned, it had bad smell. There were way too many people at one small place, it was extremely cramped.

Verified reviewLocation is great, one just needs 10 minutes walk uphill to the old town. Parking place is literary in the front of the building and it is free. The idea with three locks on the entrance gate is funny and unique: just pick your colour and coresponding numeric combination!
Breakfast, seriously? That breakfast was almost like no breakfast... Also, if spending a few Euros for a new shower head is too much, the owner could maybe descale and repair the existing one, so water would flow as inteded, not spraying randomly in useless directions.

dirty house, dirty floor in the room, also bathroom. I supposed to had a room which was on the hall separted only with curtains, nowhere i found that it is room without door. I was lucky that was another room there with the door. because if not i would have to go somewhere else. Also the location, is more far than 10 minutes from the center. Maybe 20. I stayed one night. it was enough. I will not recommended this place
Madam, she read the discretion of the room without the door and she agreed when she made the reservation, so the fact shouldn't surprise her. And instead of giving a low score, she should be grateful for having another more expensive room with the door at no extra cost proposed by my goodwill. It is clear if you rent the room for the night you will never get a 5 star hotel, but I must say that the place is always clean and well cared for. I wish you always have the best places, only that you will have to pay much more than you paid from me.

Verified reviewThe property has no door in the single room and this is not shown in pictures or mentioned in the description. Once I arrived and texted the owner explaining my surprise with the situation and asked who the coming tourists were going to be (next day there was an arrival expected for the double room that is for rent in this flat too) I got ghousted and received no reply. There is no privacy or security possible in the single room, this was a crucial information. I left the place next morning, texting the owner again and got no information, no reply. I decided to book another place in the city and proposed I can pay two nights to compensate for the water, electricity used and also for cleaning the place after me (booked 4 nights in total) and I would like two other nights from the booking to be paid back, since the information given on the booking.com was not correct and false. No reply, no reaction, no money back.
I am very sorry that you were surprised that there is no door at the room. But it was always written at the description. Unfortunately people don't read well and book. The room has always been safe, luckily I have guests that are always booking exactly this room because it's much cheaper and comfortable. And please don't tell the lie that I didn't respond to your messages and communication. As I explained to you and to the support of booking I can't pay and lose money for your mistake that you booked without reading, it would be unjust. Hope you will be more attentive at the future and would travel well without surprises.
