How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe property is so charming, and the staff is extremely kind and makes it a point to get to know you. The food was really lovely, and I loved the wine tasting I did with Roberto. While the pool was a bit cold because it’s not heated, it was refreshing given the heat and the views were stunning. I liked walking up to the vineyards and saw deer several times. I didn’t realize there is also an agriturismo across the main road, and would have liked to visit it. I stayed in the Montepulciano room, which was very large with a very comfortable bed. The only thing I didn’t like was the mildew smell in the bathroom which I think is secondary to the cloth shower curtains. It was pretty strong and affected the smell of the whole room. However, I did not stay in the room much, and overall loved the property and would go back again.

Verified reviewThe villa is a gorgeous hidden gem in Tuscany. Surrounded bu lush olive grove, vineyards and rose garden this place is a perfect romantic getaway.
I loved everything but have a few recommendations for the owners. It would be great to have a hotel shuttle available to go to Montepulciano. A €25 one way trip for 3 min drive in a local taxi is rather excessive.
Dear Katarzyna, thank you for your kind words and about the Villa. Unfortunately pricing depends only on the taxis. For this reason we recommend to our guests hiring a car. Not only for this short trip, but also to explorer the beauty of our area.

Verified reviewAmazing aircon, amazing infinity pool, amazing service
Bathroom and shower could do with an upgrade, the shower curtains smelt bad as they were not plastic - they were cotton or some material

Verified reviewA very nice villa just a short drive from Montepulciano. Lovely large room with a comfortable bed. Good internet access. Very nice infinity pool with amazing views. We had dinner at the hotel on our first night and could definitely recommend it. Ample parking. Would definitely recommend as a great location to discover the heart of Tuscany.
Breakfast was a bit hit and miss ...certain items running out with nobody noticing

Verified reviewVilla Cicolina was pure Tuscan magic — perfect for a romantic getaway and a wonderful place for our family to create memories together. The infinity pool overlooking the vineyards took our breath away, and the gardens were a paradise for both quiet moments as a couple and playful afternoons with the kids. The staff treated us like family, always kind and attentive, and the cozy yet elegant rooms made everyone feel comfortable and special. Breakfasts on the terrace were a delight for all of us, with fresh pastries and fruits that our little ones adored.
The only downside was the sometimes spotty Wi-Fi, but in truth, it helped us unplug and truly enjoy each other’s company in this stunning setting.

Verified reviewThe staff is wonderful. The morning breakfast is fine. The grounds in the pool were fantastic. The room is just very outdated. Some people might like the charm of that but for myself the bathroom was horribly outdated as was the bed in the room in general. The property is fantastic I just would recommend spending money and upgrading the rooms and bathrooms. I wouldn’t mind paying a little bit more money to have a nicer room and at least more modern bathroom and a better bed
The room was outdated. It was not a very good bed and the bathroom is horribly outdated
Dear Kurt, thank you for your kind and lovely words about our property, breakfast and staff. We are very glad, that you enjoyed your stay. The rooms are decorated with antique furniture, which the owner has chosen with care and love. In the off-season they are renovating the rooms if needed. So thank you for your suggestions. We hope to host you soon again at Villa Cicolina.

Verified reviewWhat a beautiful property just outside Montepulciano. Magnificent gardens full of flowers and fruit trees, pool area has panoramic views and the dinner was delicious. We stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage. Each bedroom has a newly renovated bathroom. The decor in the cottage was traditional with just the right mix of contemporary.
Nothing.
