How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis is a true gem of a B and B. Gaynor and Ben are wonderful hosts. This was our first trip to Picinisco and we will definitely return. The meal, made by Ben, was superb- fantastic service and a clear passion for his occupation. It was a treat to be made a meal by someone so skilled and knowledgable. Absolutely loved not having to order and to have food brought over with a detailed explanation of what it was and how it was made. Our room was light and bright with a lovely view and huge bathroom. The ambience is perfect, especially in the evenings and if you cannot stay, then at least visit for a meal. Gaynor is very kind and helped us with everything that we needed. A home from home. Thank you so much- we will be back!

There is nothing I could fault . Unfortunately the air conditioning wasn’t working but they were working on getting it fixed . An engineer was scheduled to visit .

Verified reviewIt was a lovely Villa type property central to the village , furnishings were really nice the bedroom and bed was very comfortable . We had a terrace with amazing views over the valley . The host Ben and his team were amazing ..We don’t consider this property a three star this deserves a higher rating . The food and service is definitely 5 star it was a wonderful experience - we loved it.
No tea or coffee machine in the room only because we are up very early 5/6.00 am and I would’ve liked my morning coffee on the balcony /terrace before heading down to breakfast on the main terrace which was fabulous.

Verified reviewWow! What a stunning place! I travelled here with my mum and the photos online, although beautiful, don't do this place justice. This is such an outstanding property, with the most incredible views. The whole building has been restored beautifully, and the owners have created a space that is filled with tasteful artwork and a real sense of Italian style. The rooms were spacious and cool, which was exactly what we needed after a long, hot day of travelling. Gaynor is the most gracious host and was so attentive. Late in the evening, my mum managed to lock herself out of her room, and Gaynor was there in moments to assist. So pleasant and professional. We couldn't have asked for more. The rooftop seating area provided uninterrupted views for miles. It was such a wonderful, unexpected treat to have this after our long day. Breakfast was delicious, and we had the opportunity to also meet Gaynor's husband and renowned chef Ben Hirst. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time to stay and enjoy an evening meal at Villa Inglese, but we will absolutely do this on our next visit!
Everything was perfect.

Verified reviewI loved the location in the village. Hosts were very friendly and hospitable. Breakfast was excellent.
Set dinner was amazing, but I would have loved to taste more of this exciting food if a different Menu was offered on other evenings.
Hi Patricia Thanks so much for your lovely comments. We really do appreciate you taking the time to write. Perhaps we didn’t explain it well enough but any of our guests who want to dine with us more than once will never have the same menu twice. We’re also very happy to provide a lighter option if you don’t want the full set menu. We love you to try as many varied dishes as possible. We’ll really hope to see you again one day soon :)

The Host's were attentive and hospitable willing to accommodate any special requirements and dietary restrictions. We highly recommend staying for 3 or more nights in this charming location. The dinner is an absolute must, its bound to be a culinary experience to be remembered.

Verified reviewThe best! Such a lovely old building with beautiful rooms in a really quaint little historic town. Hosts were super helpful and the dinner was probably the best meal we have ever had. Ben is an incredible chef with years of experience who now tucks himself away serving dishes that use local produce. Would go here again in a heartbeat!

Verified reviewWe had high expectations and Villa Inglese exceeded all of them, it is paradise. Ben welcomed us with a drink on the balcony with the most stunning views over the valley and hills beyond. The room and property are absolutely stunning, our room was large, beautifully decorated and had views to die for. The village is beautiful with Kiss Kiss bar only 200m away, again such friendly people and so cheap with stunning views. Ben and Gaynor were superb hosts, they couldn't have been more welcoming, genuine & kind. We enjoyed a beautiful 6 course meal and wine flight courtesy of Ben and his team, Ivan the waiter was amazing. Ben is a top chef, no question! It felt like being home from home, just wish it was my home! Breakfast was superb with the best cappucino we had all holiday. The roof terrace is relaxing and again, incredible views. I have recommnded Villa Inglese to my family and friends and can see it becoming a regular visit. We toured Rome, Amalfi Naples and this stay was our absolute highlight.

Hello Gerald. Thank you so much for your review. We are always grateful for client feedback to help us improve our service. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to meet you this time due to a prior family commitment but I’m very glad to know that you enjoyed your stay with us. As for tea and coffee, we have a tea, coffee and homemade cookies station in the corridor outside the bedrooms and I’m really sorry if this wasn’t pointed out to you during your stay. Gaynor runs the Inn and Ben runs the restaurant and is an amazing chef - both are delightful and charming people- be sure to make a dinner reservation - you will be in for a treat.
