Old style villa with beautiful view

The pictures do not match the reality. We had a shock when we arrived. We had a very smelly house and it felt like it hadn't been ventilated for a long time. The rooms are full of old furniture, which creates an oppressive feeling. The house consists of two floors and the stairs are outside. Upstairs, almost all the rooms are good, but downstairs some rooms are very small and oppressive. The villa is clean only in primary things - floor, beds. Everywhere the cupboards are full of unnecessary things, the kitchen cupboards are messy. I strongly recommend that the cleaners put everything in their case and wash it every time, because we washed everything for a whole day. Considering the beautiful view, the price is reasonable for everything else

It is a place with a fantastic view. The villa has many rooms and also many single beds, which is important for a large group. The villa has very beautiful blue dishes, enough for everyone. The place is dog-friendly, it can run around the yard. The yard is fenced only half. The surroundings are very green, quiet and easily accessible. About 20min till IperCoop (Very big Supermarket), city Stresa or Bevaro.

Safety and hygiene hazards: we evacuated the property!

If I could give zero stars, I would. Weeks before our check-in at Villa Nelma, I contacted the agency to express concern about multiple horror reviews from recent guests. I was reassured that all issues had been resolved. That was a blatant lie. The reality we walked into was a nightmare. Both dishwashers and the coffee machine were broken. A ceiling lamp had shattered glass pieces dangerously dangling from it. Several chairs were broken, and ants infested half the rooms. The garden was littered with broken glass bottles and cigarette butts – an obvious health hazard, especially for children. Worst of all, one toilet was completely unusable, with the seat detached from the floor. And then, when it rained, the windows leaked water inside, soaking the floors and adding to the chaos. The list of issues goes on. We were three families with young children (aged 9 months to 5 years), and this property turned what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday into a constant battle to maintain safety and hygiene. We were under so much stress we ended up cutting our stay short and fleeing the property altogether. The agency managing this villa (or the owner) clearly has no interest in delivering what’s advertised. The listing is nothing like the photos or description online. This is a scam, plain and simple. I contacted Booking.com multiple times to report the situation and flag the property. But unless more guests complain, this place will remain online to trap more unsuspecting families. What a broken system. Do yourself a favor – stay far, far away from Villa Nelma.

The location is in a green, peaceful area with a nice view of the lake. Also, the on-site staff member was polite and tried to assist where possible.

Amazing stay! Needs maintenance and better cleaning

Unfortunately, most of the furniture was really old and some pieces were broken. The bathroom and water system also seemed outdated and didn’t work perfectly. I also discovered that the dishwasher in one of the two apartments, the one with the big room, was broken and unusable. Cleaning was quite basic—the essential areas like the bed, toilet, and kitchen were clean, but there was visible dust and cobwebs in other parts of the house. With some maintenance and a deeper cleaning, this place could be much better.

The location was absolutely perfect, with a really nice view. It was quiet and private, making it a great place to relax. The house itself was huge, offering plenty of space to be together and enjoy time with a big family or a large group of friends. We had an incredible experience and would definitely recommend it!

    1. There is NO WIFI. This is really surprising, since it is 2023, and the cellular reception at the village is not that great. 2. In addition, there is a mandatory online check-in process which is very complicated, since it requires to upload all guests passports/IDs and fill in a lot of information - about each and every guests. Usually it is done by the hotel / B&B reception, but here you need to do it yourself via the website. We were a group of 13 people, therefore the process was really exhausting.

The villa is in a quiet village, 10 minutes from Stresa and Lake Maggiore. The house is actually two separated and independent floors, so it is very convenient for two big families. The view from the balcony and from the dining room at the villa is amazing (lots of green and a view to the lake). There is a private entrance with a possible to lock the entrance gate so the cars are safe inside the area.
