How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewVery warm welcome. Extremely nice view of Matterhorn/panorama from the apartment. Well furnished clean apartment. Close to hiking routes.
The lobby and common areas are a bit outdated but that does not affect the apartment. We would have preferred a tea towel.

But I can't find them. Pls always use booking.com site to comunicate we constantly control the email and try to be very fast in answering. About the common areas yes, it's not allowed to eat or drink there, I'm sorry but our apartments are in a building which also hosts private apartments and the areas aren't reserved to our clients, we have to respect the rules of the block. Verified reviewHad a great stay. We were greeted by our host who shared a lot of great tips and insights for us to make the most of our visit. Really appreciated this approach. The building itself is a little run down, but the rooms are nicely decorated with comfortable furniture and were very clean. The location was great for us but may not be for everyone. There was a lung busting climb up from town after dinner every night. Ski area is the most spectacular I have ever visited but susceptible to closures due to high winds whipping around the Matterhorn. Was useful to have a hire car so we could be flexible on ski area when the lifts closed one day.

The building itself is very old and feels creepy, obviously previously it was a huge hotel, but it was not renovated probably since 1980. There are different companies who rent out the apartments there and if other guests have loud party during the night there is noone to approach to solve this issue as there is no receptionist on site. The apartment itself is renovated and quite cozy, but it lacks things like kitchen towel, hooks where to hang towels in the bathroom, some kitchen equipment like chopping board and cheese grinder.

Verified reviewExcellent location as ski in/ski out (although Cielo Alto chair is for expert skiers only). Good size studio, very cosy. Private parking which especially during weekend is an added benefit.
Like most properties in Cielo Alto they are all quite dated.

Verified reviewNo one was at the desk when we arrived so we couldn't check in. We arrived early enough to have skied had someone been there. It's a good hike up the hill. There is a bus but it's not always reliable. If you need to replace your bath towel it's 5€ which is ridiculous... It can be noisy at night if there are partiers in your section.

We just want to highlight two points that are very important for us: 1) THE CHECK-IN- is from 16:00- If you arrive at 13 (without informing us first), it’s not our fault: we always try to make our customers feel comfortable before, unfortunately we do not always succeed, but only if we have information about the arrival time: We are not yet magicians and we can not guess any arrival. In addition, it is really written everywhere that our reception is not open 24 hours on 24, but precisely, we have specific times. 2) Yes, the new towels are for a fee- this information is also written: only the initial cleaning (with new towels and sheets) and the final cleaning when you leave the room are included. No customer had ever complained about this price to pay, which honestly, at least for us, is not exaggerated. We conclude by saying that, perhaps for your next trip, it would be more appropriate to have a hotel- where they change towels every day and check-ins are possible at any time, so as to fully fit with your needs.
