How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The bathroom was small.
Great location. Easy to find and access. Lift was a great bonus. Seby and the team did everything to make our stay comfortable and easy. They helped us with the carparking. Grazie mille for the very good wine, Seby!

We don’t focus on minor details while on holiday, and in this case, everything was just perfect.
Lovely accommodation – other guests were very respectful and quiet during the night. I’m Irish, so the Mediterranean-style breakfast wasn’t really my thing, but it was definitely a fine display of food if that’s what you enjoy. Our bedroom was spotless and very comfortable. The main man, Sebastian, was an absolute gentleman who couldn’t do enough for us. He gave us great advice and tips on activities and things to do. A genuinely pleasant guy who would go out of his way to help. We’ll definitely be returning to Ortigia and this B&B. Best wishes to Sebastian and his family from Ireland ☘️ John Michael

The room is very lovely and has a wonderful scent. Sebastiano was amazing, offering transport to the station and back and couldn’t be more helpful if he tried. He was always checking in to make sure everything was ok and if I needed any help he was there to offer it. He was a wonderful host. The property is very central so close to a lot of main attractions. All rooms have a lovely balcony also. Wide variety offered for breakfast.

The stay was great, clean and very comfortable. Location great, center of the island. We had a great stay and really enjoyed everything. Breakfast great. Coffee excellent. Sebastiano helped us with everything that we needed, and we don’t have enough words to thank him.

Great hosts - helped us with parking which since this is a driverless island was a bit complicated! Great place to lay our heads. I really like the code entry. Nice easy to find spot with a great balcony view from both sides of the building.

Authentic gorgeous homely feel, with friendly helpful staff,particularly Seby who showed wonderful customer service arranging for a friend to drop off to our next destination, something we left behind in the safe. Breakfast was varied and delicious. We loved our stay here

Seby was great to us! He had a lot of knowledge about the area and also knows a lot of people in and around Ortigia. The room was great and the location was perfect! From the b&b we walked easily to everything we wanted to see and do in Ortigia. Breakfast was good, parking was good and overall we leave Joy's Bnb with a smile and a lot of cool memories. Would recommend staying here!

Joy's is well placed for everywhere in Ortigial. The location couldn't be better. Sebastiano looked after us so we'll, from arranging transfers to breakfast.

Room was slightly small but adequate and lacked indoor seating.
Sebe and his staff were extremely helpful and attentive. The location is ideal for exploring the beautiful island of Ortigia. The room had a little balcony, which was perfect for sitting out with a glass of wine of an evening.

Bathroom very compact but manageable. As you are in the heart of Ortigia, be prepared for a possible little outside noise.

Breakfast had many choices and was delicious. Sebastian was a gracious and ever-helpful host. A lovely, small B&B in a location that could not have been more convenient for exploring Ortigia and Siracusa. Elevator a godsend with our heavy bags. Last stop on our 3-week trip to Italy and a wonderful way to end our trip. We will return!
