It’s a little tricky to get to with public transport but it’s so worth it! And other than that, nothing!

It was such a beautiful place to stay. Very quiet and peaceful, just a few minutes walk to the beach. Lots of hammocks and nice places to chill out. Beautiful sunset spot nearby. Kitchen so can make your own food, and one or two local restaurants in the village. Sue the owner is absolutely lovely!

Lovely welcome and stay, no negative points for us

Lovely stay with Sue who seemed to know everybody and was a perfect host. Garden was from paradise with loads of birds, butterflies and toads (at night). We were lucky as it was not busy when we were there so quiet outdoor kitchen and beautifully kept shared bathroom. You must try Teresa’s jerk pork a few yards down the road - she was great fun whenever we visited her - she might be the heart of Brighton Beach! We stayed in February 2025.

Nothing really, only that shops are quite a walk away. But Sue has a small shop store on premises that gets you by.

Sue was very friendly. She said several times “Anything you want just ask me? Which makes you feel more at ease in a strange place. This property is a quiet place if you want peace and quiet. The birds sing every day and saw humming birds regularly on tree outside my room. The beach is about 10/15 mins walk away. Sue also took me to Negril beach which was fantastic.

The location was unfortunately super far from the lively city centre. And it took an hour sometimes to arrange for any of the route bikes to take us. Especially with our backpacks. We still enjoyed it though since hitch hiking was also an option (sometimes). Walking could've also been a really nice hike up to the spot where it's busier and taxis are more common, but the road is so narrow and cars sometimes drive crazy, so we didn't want to risk that option.

Super lovely well-thought of way of making use of the island's materials while keeping it super comfortable for usual standards of European hostel styles. Sue is always renovating and improving the place, and it's already super wonderful. Very relaxing spot, close to the water (can't swim though but can enjoy some really nice breeze).

Absolute gem of a place, really loved our stay at Judy's! Sue is a wonderful host and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening together and all her exciting stories. Absolutely loved the property itself, you can just see how much care, love and attention to detail went into it. Great local area with lots of little things to discover (or simply unwind)

Nothing, you should just not that this is a quite area and no touristy party place.

This place is really a little paradise, it is pretty remote where you can experience the real jamaica and get a time out from all the noise. The people in the community are real friendly and you can connect with the locals. Sue is a great host who takes care of you and helps out with everything you need.

There is a limited amount of facilities in the vicinity. Having your own means of transportation would be advisable.

The place gives off a relaxed atmosphere. Sue is very welcoming and helpful. The people from town are kind and generous. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, away from busy streets and resorts, this would be a good choice for you.

Off the beaten track. It's not easy to get around. Eating out needs planning. The sea is ok for splashing around rather than swimming. Swim shoes/old trainers are needed for going into the sea.

I liked the community. It was safe and friendly. Far away from the maddening crowds! I loved the sound of the waves pounding on the rocks - dramatic. The sunsets. A real part of Jamaica. The tranquility. The flora and fauna - the wildlife according to my 8 yo grandson (on a video call) - Birds, butterflies, frogs, lizards, and other species and plants. The geology of the sea rocks looks fascinating with imprinted fossils on the exposed rocks.

The stay with Sue who owns Judy House Backpacker hostel Brighton. The whole experience was nice. Got my laundry done by Sister who is Sue’s right hand girl. Nice person. Remember go slow. Sue’s cabins are so well done. The inside electrical plugs have USB plugins which is nice. The lighting was done very well in cabin. Recycling is being done which I like. The washroom has been done very well. Clean towels in hamper and a place to put them in when done. Sue has a sitting area for her customers. You can get beer, eggs, water, tobacco, soups(store bought) and more. It’s on the honour system which is a normal part of hostel living. Sue’s hostel is more than a hostel. It doesn’t have a Dorm system anymore and I would say is a nice group of cabins with lovely grounds and a wonderful place to chill. O ya, there is a fully equipped outside kitchen which means cooking for oneself. Enjoy your stay with Sue
