How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewI liked everything about Caribbean Estates. The estate is beautiful, well kept, quiet, comfortable, and we felt very safe. We had a issue come up outside of Ms. Pauline's control and she quickly solidified it and we were very grateful. The guards were on point and about business. If you didn't live there you had to explain why you were there before they let you in.
Although the Malls are close to the property it's a nice walk to reach.

Hi Maxine, your review does not match the property. The electric stove is brand new and is in excellent condition. All that you needed to do is to turn on the pilot switch that is on the wall above the stove. There were two mats in the bathroom.

Verified reviewThe grounds were beautifully kept, and the area had such a safe and welcoming vibe. Having parking right in the driveway was so convenient. The home was exactly as pictured—clean, cozy, and beautifully decorated. The bed was super comfortable, and everything felt well thought out. The owner was so kind and welcoming, even leaving us a bottle of wine, which was such a nice touch!
The bathroom could use a small shelf or soap dish in the shower and a towel holder by the sink—it would have made things a bit easier. The kitchen was a bit understocked for cooking; we managed to prepare a meal for four but found we could have used a few more utensils. However there are loads of restaurants very nearby for those who don't want the hassle of cooking. Unfortunately, the hot water wasn’t working during our stay, this was because of the solar system and the rainy weather. The host checked in on us during our stay, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and with just a few tweaks, it would be absolutely perfect!

Thanks for your review. However, the fact that you were comfortable then the value for money should be 10. The service provider for the WiFi is always paid on time, and I really don't have control over their Wi Fi issues. I am glad that 95 percent of the time the service is a 100%

The walk from the security gate to apartment gates are very long. Would not recommend this property if not driving. A/C does not work efficient enough( has a motion sensor and turns of once no movement is being made which at nights get disgustingly hot)for the temperature of location as portmore is one of the hottest parish’s in Jamaica. One entrance which means you and people renting on the side will get in each-others way and if not nice people as i experienced will cause a crossfire.
Your review is not surprising! I am sorry I wasn't able to cater to the needs of your unauthorized visitors. I had to speak to you about the additional charges for which I was not compensated. I am also sorry that the grill gate leading to rear section of the property wasn't locked. Hence, your visitors and yourself ventured to a non-non smoking area of the property , Thanks for being so very apologetic when you were spoken to you about it. I have already taken preventative measures, so there will be no such recurrence. Many guests from far and near have not only expressed satisfaction for the comfort and tranquility of the accommodation but have repeated more than twice their bookings to this facility. You expressed to me on more than one occasion how happy and comfortable you were. I wish for you nothing but the best.

Verified reviewThere should have been some key necessities provided such as toothpaste,bath soap and complimentary drinks inside a functioning refrigerator.
As a repeat guest, I am so sorry that this time around you did not get your usual complimentary fine wine chilled. Over time we have built a good rapport and you have had access to my cell phone via whats app, so if there was no toothpaste and soap, I would make them available once I was notified. Although it was a difficult time for all of us, there was light and water, clean bedding, good air conditioner and a Jacuzzi. I made every effort to facilitate you as the room you booked was unavailable. I upgraded your reservation to the master suite with no additional charges.
